It was a Christmas trip to Vienna, Austria 🇦🇹 Christmas Itinerary. We began our festive journey at St. Stephen’s Cathedral ⛪️ one of Vienna’s most iconic landmarks. During the Christmas 🎄 season, the cathedral’s grandeur is enhanced by the festive atmosphere surrounding it. The towering spire and intricately detailed facade make for an unforgettable picture, especially with the Christmas lights ✨ twinkling around the square. We recommend visiting in the early morning to catch the first light, as the cathedral looks stunning against the crisp winter sky. Don’t forget to capture the contrast of the cathedral’s Gothic architecture against the colorful market stalls in the nearby Stephansplatz 🍻 📍Stephansplatz 3, 1010 Wien, Austria We also ventured to Schönbrunn Palace, which is even more magical during the Christmas season ❄️ The Christmas market here is one of the oldest and most charming in Vienna, with over 60 stalls selling festive ornaments, delicious treats, and unique handcrafted gifts 🎁 The palace itself, illuminated against the winter sky, provides the perfect backdrop for photos 📸 We recommend visiting in the late afternoon as the palace lights up at dusk, creating a romantic, fairy-tale-like setting. We decided to conquer the Nordturm, the cathedral’s north tower, for a bird’s-eye view of the historic streets below. The climb was steep, but once at the top, the panoramic views of Vienna made it worth every step. After descending, we took a stroll through the nearby streets, soaking in the old-world charm of Vienna’s architecture and lively atmosphere around Stephansplatz. 🚇 Vienna’s excellent public transport made getting around a breeze. We took the U1 metro line directly to Stephansplatz, conveniently placing us right at the cathedral’s doorstep. 📷 The Gothic details of Stephansdom’s exterior were mesmerizing, with its intricate carvings and the colorful, patterned roof. Inside, the towering pillars and beautiful stained-glass windows provided a perfect backdrop for photos. The top of the Nordturm offered unparalleled views of Vienna’s rooftops and streets, making it a must-snap moment. 🍜 We headed to Rinderwahn, a popular local spot known for its gourmet burgers. The perfectly cooked Austrian beef burgers, paired with crispy fries and delicious toppings, were a fantastic contrast to our historical morning. The laid-back, modern atmosphere was the perfect place to refuel. 💡 Tips:Go early to avoid crowds and enjoy the view in peace.

The Stephansplatz is a square at the centre of Vienna, it is named after its most prominent building, the mother church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Vienna- St Stephen's Cathedral. The most important religious building St Stephen's Cathedral has borne witness to many important events in Habsburg and Austrian history with the initial foundation stone dated back to 1137. The Cathedral is 107 meters long, the tallest of its four towers is the south tower at 136 meters, the tallest church in Austria. The front of the nave and part of the northern side are open access free, the rest to get up close to the altar, climb a tower, or view the catacombs, you will need to pay. You can take U1 or U3 to Stephansplatz station around 2 minutes walk, you will reach the Cathedral, it is open daily from 0600-2200.
