The Sumida River is a branch of the Arakawa River starting from Shin-Iwabuchi Minato, Kita-ku, Tokyo, Japan. It joins the Shinkawa River, Ishigami River, Kanda River and other tributary rivers, and then flows into the Tokyo Bay with a total length of 23.5 kilometers. During the Meiji period, Sumida River ferries were mostly used. Since then, many wooden bridges have been set up with the increase of traffic volume, but most of them were destroyed during the Great Kanto Earthquake, and later they were changed to iron bridges. Because the bridges on the Sumida River are quite diverse, they also reflect the urban changes of Tokyo to a considerable extent, so that the Sumida River has the title of "Bridge Museum".
