The ropeway spans 1.877 km from the Youth Activity Center at Sun Moon Lake to the Guanshan Building in the Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village, with only two stations. Definitely make the cable car a priority on your trip to Sun Moon Lake! I purchased a combo ticket form Klook that included three boat trips (Ita Thao to Shuishe, Shuishe to Xinshuang, and Xinshuang to Ita Thao - you can do it in a different order if you want) and a return trip on the cable car for 500NT. I started at the cable car where I scanned my QR code at the information desk on the 2nd floor in exchange for a physical ticket for the ropeway (I picked up the boat ticket from Ita Thao pier). The queues were small because it was a weekday so I waited for one of the special glass bottomed cars (1 in 3 is glass bottomed) and found the journey and views to be spectacular. At the terminus there are some gift and snack shops, as well as the Formosan Aboriginal Village (which I didn’t go to). I used the bathroom and went straight back down and had to cart to myself!
