Details of hiking at Tai Tung Shan, Lantau Island, Hong Kong👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻
Trekking Distance: The total distance of my trek was 8.64 km as I started directly from the railway station. I started the hike from Tung Chung Station, but there are ways to make the hike very short, even less than 5km to the summit. However, the best route is by hiking, 5-9 km depending on whether you are going from the metro station or using the bus nowadays.
The total duration of the hike was 2.5 hours, but with all the time at the viewpoint and waiting at the top for the city lights to come on it was more like 4 hours.
Difficulty of the hike: The hike is very easy throughout and is very busy as it is one of the most popular hiking trails in Hong Kong. The part that makes this trail difficult is the 900+ meters of incline. The hike started out with over 400 meters of continuous stairs climbing up and down and it was brutal.
Hike Grade: The total hike grade is 932 meters, but as I mentioned above, it can be shortened slightly.
