The crystal world in the hometown of Swarovski
If you visit Innsbruck, you must not miss visiting the Swarovski Museum. It is located in Wattens, about half an hour from Innsbruck. There is a shuttle bus service from Innsbruck Hbf station.
Daniel Swarovski founded his crystal company in Wattens in 1895. He did not see crystal as a material, but as an inspiration. Therefore, Swarovski Kristallwelten (translated as Swarovski's Crystal World) was created and opened in 1995. Andre Heller, a multi-media artist, designed the place to welcome tourists from all over the world.
Outside, there is a giant fountain, a prominent symbol, surrounded by a crystal garden. You can walk around. It is decorated with a Crystal Cloud made of over 600,000 pieces of crystal. The interior is divided into different exhibition rooms telling the story of Swarovski crystal, with different themes.
Our favorite room is The Art of Performance, which tells the story of how Swarovski crystals are incorporated into the entertainment world, including costumes, stages, backdrops, and even many props used in world-class performances, designed by famous fashion designers who collaborate with Swarovski. This room was curated by wardrobe designer Michael Schmidt, and the space was designed by award-winning stage designer Derek Mclane.
Some of the important items include Dorothy's ruby slippers, Michael Jackson's gloves, and Simone Biles's outfit, all of which feature Swarovski crystals to help them shine and shine. There's also Marilyn Monroe's Birthday Dress, followed by outfits and accessories from famous artists such as Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Katy Perry, and Elton John.
At the end, there's the Swarovski Kristalwelten Store, where you can shop for Swarovski products, including watches, gems, and accessories like necklaces, earrings, and rings, etc. When you walk outside, You will find the Daniels Kristallwelten restaurant. The atmosphere is very nice. I would like everyone to come and try both the food and the atmosphere. No matter what season you come, it is beautiful.
