Starting from Budapest, I took a comfortable ferry, slowly sailing towards Szentendre along the Danube. The river's clear waters, picturesque scenery on both banks, ancient castles, colorful houses, and dense forests formed a beautiful painting. The sunlight shimmering on the water, the gentle breeze, and the serene atmosphere made the river journey itself an enjoyment, adding infinite anticipation for the upcoming Szentendre trip. Upon arriving at the Szentendre dock, I was greeted by a quaint town full of historical charm. The cobblestone streets, flanked by colorful houses, exuded a strong Southern European style. Most of these houses, built in the 18th century, are well-preserved, each like a fine piece of art, telling stories of time and history. The air was filled with a faint scent of earth and flowers, fresh and natural, contrasting sharply with the bustling city. I strolled through the streets of Szentendre, feeling the town's tranquility and peace. There were no busy traffic or bustling crowds, only a leisurely pace and a relaxed atmosphere. #TravelWithMe This cute village can be reached in about an hour by suburban train Hev from Budapest's Batthyany Square, or by taking a city bus or metro for a single ticket (450 forints) + 450 forints for the suburbs, for just 900 forints (about 400 yen) one way. It's a bit of a walk to the center of the village, but there is a marzipan museum and a small art gallery. I strolled around buying fried bread-like lángos and ice cream. There was also a boat dock on the Danube River. I wonder if I could come by cruise? There was also a facility like a Hungarian ethnic village on the outskirts, but there seemed to be few buses, so I gave up. We stayed at the Crown Plaza Hotel in downtown Budapest. To avoid morning traffic, we walked for over 20 minutes to the Margit hid, budar hidfö train station (search on Google Maps), bought tickets to Szentendre, and took the H5 line for 15 stops to the terminal station. Note: Tourists need to buy 2 tickets, one for a single trip within Budapest and another for the 15 km H5 extension line (450 forints). Remember to punch your single trip ticket at the small machine near the train door (insert the ticket into the black slot and pull down, three holes indicate a successful punch). If you have a day pass, you only need to buy an extension ticket. Ticket inspections in Budapest are frequent, especially for tourists, so make sure not to under-purchase, as fines can exceed 10,000 forints. Upon reaching Szentendre, walk straight out of the train station and you'll see an underpass. Go through it and come up the other side to enter the town. The town is small and casually strolling around is quite picturesque, especially around the central square. Make sure to visit on a day with blue skies and white clouds for beautiful photos without any filters. There are some restaurants near the central square, and you can also choose outdoor dining by the lake, which is very relaxing. We found a highly-rated restaurant where we had to wait for about half an hour without a reservation on a weekday. For the return trip, take the H5 line towards Batthyany ter and get off at the second-to-last stop, Margit hid, budar hidfö, to return the same way. Szentendre is the closest town to Budapest and is beautiful and quiet. Its pronunciation is similar to the Chinese 'Shan Dan Dan', hence it is also known as 'Shan Dan Dan Town'. Szentendre is an ancient city located in the suburbs of Budapest. In the 14th century, Serbs and Greeks fled here and developed a culture and architectural style with southern European style, so Szentendre is also called the "Greek Village".
