Taiyuan Northern Qi Mural Museum is a tomb mural museum that is based on the original site of Xu Xianxiu's tomb for protection and display. It is located in Yingze District, Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province, with a total area of 20,000 square meters, including 3,830 square meters of exhibition halls and 1,525 square meters of mural protection and research centers. As a museum integrating history, art and culture, it provides visitors with a window to gain an in-depth understanding of ancient Chinese mural art and Northern Qi culture. As of now, there are about 40 Northern Dynasty mural tombs in China, and about 20 of them are relatively well preserved, most of which are Northern Qi mural tombs. The ancient Jinyang City of Taiyuan, Shanxi, as a "place where Hu and Han peoples are mixed", has a rich collection of Northern Qi mural tombs. The Taiyuan Northern Qi Mural Museum not only has exhibition halls open to the public, but also a mural restoration research center. The exhibition hall is divided into three exhibition spaces: "Special Capital", "A Thousand Years at a Glance", and "Simple and Standard Beauty". With the display of Northern Qi murals as the core, it interprets the characteristics of the times and the important position of Jinyang in cultural exchanges and ethnic integration from the Northern Dynasties to the Sui and Tang Dynasties. The Mural Restoration Research Center has continued to carry out the on-site protection of Xu Xianxiu's tomb, and has achieved remarkable results. It has effectively controlled various diseases of the tomb, solved the stability of the murals in the tomb chamber and the tomb passage, and provided a reference for the on-site protection of mural tombs at home and abroad. The Taiyuan Northern Qi Mural Museum contains murals from the tombs of Lou Rui and Xu Xianxiu in Taiyuan, as well as murals from Jiuyuangang in Xinzhou and Shuiquanliang in Shuozhou. These numerous precious Northern Qi murals are famous for their bright colors and vivid shapes, showing the social outlook, religious beliefs and artistic achievements of the Northern Qi period. Visitors can appreciate these artistic treasures up close in the exhibition hall and feel the exquisite skills and creative wisdom of ancient craftsmen. In addition to static exhibitions, the museum also uses modern scientific and technological means, such as multimedia displays and virtual reality, to digitally reproduce the historical scenes of the Northern Qi period, making visitors feel as if they were in the ancient society thousands of years ago. Regular cultural lectures and special exhibitions also provide visitors with opportunities for in-depth learning and communication. Taiyuan Beiqi Mural Museum tells the story of the early pattern of the Chinese nation's diversity and unity through exquisite murals, and the evolution of the diversified integration of farming culture and nomadic culture. These murals are irreplaceable treasures for studying grassland history and culture, and are also a model for the exchange and mutual learning between Eastern and Western civilizations. Whether you are an art lover, a history researcher, or a tourist interested in ancient Chinese culture, you can spend a perfect journey here to explore mural art and experience cultural charm.
