If you want to to visit waterfall you can go earlier other wise come to Shifen railway station during evening is nice to light up the sky lantern with your wishes and send to the air. At night, Jilong Night Market have the best food you can taste. Day 3: Today is hot spring spa day, Beitou district day. Here you can have a nice walk with the local morning market, public library, spa museum, and highly recommend to pick a nice place for spa. I picked Huang Chi Spa / Emperor Spa as they have a unique natural hot spring with natural radium mineral from underground volcanic. Then at night, can visit Raohe St. Night Market, which is the oldest and unique night market for good food. Day 4: Is Tamsui district day. Is a very relax walk by the famous Fisherman’s Wharf harbour. Enjoy some local delicacies, shopping for souvenirs and enjoy your walk along the riverbanks. At night can go to Ningxia night market for food. Day 5: the last day if your flight at evening or night, you can do some final shopping at WuFenPu near the city. My first time, when I went to Tamsui, I took MRT Red line until last stop - Tamsui. And after that I took local bus 22 to Tamsui Fishermen wharf. All journey from Taipei main station took me around 1 hour. Including waiting time. And I do not regretted that I spent this time. Place is really wonderful. I've organized a super detailed 5-day-4-night itinerary. Let's set off together and feel the charm of Taipei! Day 1: Taipei Main Station → Ningxia Night Market Upon arriving in Taipei, we went straight to Taipei Main Station, which is a transportation hub with super convenient transfers. After dropping off our luggage, we headed to Ningxia Night Market. The oyster omelette at the entrance was amazing, with big and fresh oysters wrapped in egg batter, paired with sweet and spicy sauce. One bite and the fresh flavor filled my mouth. Then we had a cup of bubble tea, with chewy pearls and rich milk flavor, capturing the authentic taste of Taiwan in an instant. Walking and eating, we felt so happy! Day 2: National Palace Museum → Shilin Official Residence → Shilin Night Market In the morning, we visited the National Palace Museum, which has a rich collection of artifacts. Must-see treasures include the Mao Gong Ding and the Jadeite Cabbage. I recommend hiring a guide to fully appreciate the historical significance behind the artifacts. In the afternoon, we went to the Shilin Official Residence, strolling through the gardens and enjoying a leisurely time. In the evening, we visited Shilin Night Market, where we had the famous Hot-Star Large Fried Chicken, crispy and delicious, with a super large size that was very satisfying. The herbal pork rib soup was rich and warming. Day 3: Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall → Yongkang Street → Xinyi District In the morning, we went to the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall to watch the changing of the guard ceremony, feeling the solemn atmosphere. Then we headed to Yongkang Street, which has many artistic shops. Don't miss the mango shaved ice, with large chunks of mango on top of the ice, sweet and refreshing. In the evening, we went to Xinyi District, a shopping paradise with all major brands. On this morning in June, the weather finally cleared up after the rain. I took the MRT Tamsui Xinyi Line (towards Tamsui) to Beitou Station, then transferred to Xinbeitou Station. It took about 5-6 minutes to walk to Beitou Hot Springs. museum. #北投温泉博物馆 The original body of the museum was a public bathhouse during the Japanese colonial era. The interior still retains the design and details of the Japanese hot spring bathhouse, and also carefully introduces the history of Beitou's origin as a hot spring hotspot. This historic site was discovered by teachers and students from Beitou Elementary School. It was originally going to be demolished, but through the efforts of the teachers and students it was preserved and converted into the current museum. It is really touching to see it. In front of the Beitou Hot Spring Museum is the Taipei City Library Beitou Branch, Taiwan's first green building library. It is mainly made of wood and is located in a green area with a lotus pond next to it. Unfortunately, that day happened to be the first Thursday of every month and the museum was closed, so I had no chance to go in and visit. I was thinking of finding a coffee shop near Beitou to sit down and eat something. I unexpectedly found a coffee shop with a perfect score of 5 on Google Maps. It was called "#韶光慢咖啡店". It’s less than 5 minutes away, so I visited with great anticipation. There are not many seats in the store, but there is plenty of space between them. The proprietress was very friendly and professional. She introduced the store's many special hand-brewed coffees and food. These are again one of those travels that I’ve been twice. There are just so many beautiful places in Taiwan that exploring once is not enough. And Tamsui Fisherman’s Wharf is one of those. Going here is quite tough since you need to ride a ferry going to the other side but the view is worth it. You get to enjoy the scenic view of the fishing port, foods and more.
