Peach Blossom Island is located in Zaratong Village. Because there are peach trees in front of the house and behind the house, every spring, the pink peach blossoms are like colorful clouds reflecting the island, so people call Zaratong Village Peach Blossom Island. The Nu people living on the island celebrate the Peach Blossom Festival every year when the peach blossoms are in full bloom, which is the tenth day of the second lunar month. They made a statue of Baima out of fried noodles, decorated it with bright peach blossoms, and carried it to the place where Baima jumped into the river after offering sacrifices. According to legend, in the past, the Nu people only believed in primitive religions. After the introduction of Tibetan Buddhism, they strongly resisted. The ancestor of the Nu people, Baima, organized many people to fight against the lamas of Puhua Temple, but each time ended in failure. On the tenth day of the second lunar month, Baima once again organized people to go to Puhua Temple and was injured by the lama with taro. Baima was furious and jumped into the Nu River in the north of the village. In order to commemorate her, the descendants held a ceremony to worship her on the tenth day of the second lunar month every year. Over time, it has evolved into today's Peach Blossom Festival.
