I visited Teramachi and Shinkyogoku three times for food, shopping, and currency exchange (one of the money exchange machines here had the best exchange rate I found in Kyoto). The white roof indicates shopping street, and we bought some souvenirs and accessories here. There are some unique and interesting second-hand vintage clothing shops, nice cafes and bakeries (including several pet cafes - dogs, cats, and even micro pigs). I really don't like queuing, but one day I couldn't help but came at 11 o'clock when they opened the store to try it. When we arrived, there were already 7-8 people registered in front of us. Fortunately, the shop has just opened, so they are seated in groups one by one, so there is no need to queue. The restaurant has two floors, and this time I was given a bar counter seat in front of the frying pan so that I could appreciate the chef's cooking skills and take more photos. This restaurant has a very high CP value. I ordered a tempura bowl which was only about HKD 110. The portion of this tempura bowl was quite large and the ingredients were not sloppy at all. A half-cooked tempura fried egg was added, and the juice penetrated into the rice, which enhanced the level of the whole bowl of rice and made it extra delicious. Yatadera Temple, located on Teramachi Street in downtown Kyoto, is a Seizan Jodo sect temple with its official name Kongo-san Yatadera Temple. It was founded in 700 (4th year of the Hakuho era) as a branch temple of Yatadera Temple in Yamatokoriyama City, Nara, famous for its hydrangeas, as a place of imperial prayer for Emperor Tenmu and Empress Jito. It was later moved several times, and in 1579 (7th year of the Tensho era), it was built in its current location by order of Toyotomi Hideyoshi. The temple bell hanging in the main hall has a heavy sound. This is huge shopping district in Kyoto. It has the normal covered shopping street, and a huge variety of shopping stores lined up around. Aside from being a shopping district, Teramachi is also known to be a historic street, because around this location are a lot of Buddhist temples. It's a great place to shop souvenirs and do food tasting when you are in Kyoto. #wintergetaway
