The museum is located on Museum Island. The exterior is a very rare triangular building, and the interior makes full use of the height and space to display Norway's first expedition ship Fram designed for polar expeditions. Fram was designed by Green Archa in 1892, and has been used by Vrichov Nansen's Arctic expeditions in the North Sea, Otto Svedrap's current survey between Canada and Greenland, and Rool Amundsen used by historical expeditions such as the Antarctic expedition. Fromm was salvaged in 1936 and exhibited the following year. The hull is still preserved as it is, and the utensils and daily necessities used in the expedition are reproduced, allowing visitors to experience the life of the expedition team members. There are many interactive and multimedia facilities in the museum that allow visitors to understand the Fram experience from all angles and are well worth exploring.
