If you didn’t know, Fram is the strongest wooden ship ever built and still holds the records for sailing farthest north and farthest south. At the Fram Museum you can come on board the ship and see how the crew and their dogs managed to survive in the coldest and most dangerous places on earth – the Arctic and the Antarctic. Certainly a museum to visit whilst in Oslo and it will be a hit with the kids too. Oslo is perfect for a city break and you can easily visit and see the top attractions in a weekend. The museum looks like a triangular spire, very ordinary, not large area, but once inside, wow wow, it was the whole Forward Explorer placed in the museum middle pavilion position, you have to look up at the ship, and there are passages on both sides for you to visit, on the top floor can board the deck. The Quanjin was the exploration ship aboard the former Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen, the first ship to cross the entire Northwest Passage. The entire museum is themed around Norwegian polar expeditions, so there are also introductions to Arctic climate issues, cutting polar bears, melting ice, and natural gas.
