Some sound advice to peeps travelling to London for the 1st time
#2024mapped
After two trips to London (making all kinda mistakes), here are my few pieces of advice:
1) Transportation
- Paying with a contactless card, it’s automatically capped at £8.5/day (which already covered the journey to 99% of the attractions in London)
- Night tubes (5 lines) runs whole night on Fri/Sat so people who wanna experience London nightlife without breaking the bank to call Uber can stay close to the related stations.
2) Attraction
- for London skyline viewing, there are many free observatory than the Shard (which is crazily expensive, eg. Horizon 22 > Sky Garden > the Garden at 120 / the Post Building > level 10 at Tate Modern
- for markets hopping, Borough market has very great cheeses (pay attention to a booth selling 15-month Comte and another selling all sorta liquor-infused cheeses); Leadenhall market has very cool, classical-influenced architecture; Portobello road market is long but rather boring to me, however.
- for museum: many great museums in UK are free-entry (much loves), which could be a blissful nuisance because there would be too many to go; prioritize Victoria and Albert Museums and, of course, the British Museum.
- to cover most of the London trademarks in the most efficient manner, a stroll along Thames River (in a day or two) would be a good idea to consider—but I’d suggest do it from east to west, coz many building doesn’t look that good against the sunlight.

Garden at 120 - London's new sky garden
I only had one day in London and couldn't make a reservation at Sky Garden, a popular attraction in recent years. Someone told me I could go to the nearby Garden at 120, so I changed my destination.
120 actually refers to the building at 120 Fenchurch Street, and Sky Garden is at 20. On the same street, climbing up Garden at 12, you can also see the Walkie Talkie Building where the Sky Garden is located, which echoes the Sky Garden in the distance! 😂
What is the difference between the two sky gardens?
1. Sky Garden is located on the 38th floor, with a better view of the Thames. Garden at 120 is located on the 15th floor, with a view of nearby buildings.
2. Sky Garden is inside a giant canopy, with a greenhouse garden and three restaurants. Garden at 120 is mostly open-air, with a restaurant with a garden layout on the 14th floor.
3. The biggest advantage of Garden at 120 is that it is not as difficult to make an appointment as Sky Garden. We queued for about half an hour on the day and also had to go through security before reaching the top, but it was still smooth. There is a ceiling screen in the middle of the mall with some art projections. On the day we went, people kept breaking colored glass on it! 😅
However, the experience of visiting Garden at 120 was quite good. The 360-degree view outside was quite open because there were not many high-rise buildings. The inner garden was not big, but through the garden design, it felt like a winding path leading to a secluded place. There were facilities for resting and sitting.
Free opening hours:
Mon-Fri 10:00-21:00
Sat-Sun 10:00-17:00
Opening hours may vary in different seasons, so it is best to check online first.

London Life 🇬🇧
With London being crazy expensive these days, let me show you a 100% free place to chill or shoot. The Garden @ 120 gives you 360 views of the city for free. You go through a metal detector at the bottom floor, and that's it. The crowds vary depending on the wind, but you'll get room to shoot or chill by yourself with food and a book.
I'll be posting more free alternatives soon. Inflation is crazy.
Enjoy! #tripblazers #london #england #travel #photography #fallingforfall

Had a few cocktails 🍸 👌 😜 😎 and enjoyed the views of London from above. Would certainly go again and visit this place.

Which is the best viewing observatory to check out London skyline?
#londontraveltip
London has one of the most prominent skylines among all cities in the world—I personally find it even more exciting than that of Tokyo. So viewing the skyline has to make it to anyone’s travel itinerary in London.
London has a lot of options of such viewing decks: the Shard, Horizon 22, the Post Building, Sky Garden, Garden at 120, Level 10 of Tate Modern. Except the Shard, the rest of them are free of charge! which makes it kinda hard to choose which one to go.
From my previous visits to London, I have explored almost every one of them. Here’s some of my comparison analysis:
【Cost】
Horizon 22: Free entry with online booking (up to a month ahead); walk-ins are limited but possible
The Post Building: Free, no booking required
Sky Garden: Free with advance booking (up to two weeks out), no walk-ins possible due to long queue
Garden at 120: Free, no reservations needed
The Shard: £28-£32 per ticket
【Views】
Horizon 22: (pic 4-8); through window panels with some glare but ultra wide view, and it’s even taller than the Shard, giving unobstructed view
The Post Building: (pic 1-3); almost head-on view of British Museum
Sky Garden: (pic 9-12); outdoor terrace closed before 10am and after 6pm, not ideal for sunrise/sunset.
Garden at 120: (pic 13-15); at 69 meters, it’s dwarfed by surrounding towers.
The Shard: (didn’t go)
【Verdict】
Personally, I found Horizon 22 the best experience for the ultra wide view. The glare could be minimized by bringing the lens close to the window panel, and one can frame their shots using window panel. The queue is also much acceptable, unlike Sky Garden, which could take up to 45min to get up.

London Day and Night | The Garden at 120
#AirGarden
#London Day and Night
This term break impromptu and went out on a pilgrimage to London. I was thinking of going to the super popular Sky Gargen, but it turned out to have to book online 3 weeks in advance 😅 to visit (although it is completely free). Luckily I woke up to another aerial garden The Gargen at 120 nearby, no need to book a walk-in line to visit ✌🏻, it's completely free.
Why is this aerial garden called The Garden at 120❓ Because this building is located at 120 Fenchurch Street, and not 120 stories high😆. The queue time is about 20-30 minutes, then take the lift and press the 15th floor.
Because London doesn't have many high-rise buildings like Hong Kong, so although the aerial garden is only 15 stories high, it has a 40-storey view😏.
Up to the aerial garden, the view is more beautiful than I imagined 💕. 360 degree unobstructed view of the entire London, you can clearly see the Tower Bridge 🌉. We went from 5pm to 6pm, which was just the right time to see all the day and night of London. The view of London at night was so beautiful😍.
Winter opening weekdays are 10am -6:30pm, summer time from April to September to 9pm, but Saturdays and Sundays only go to 5pm, so before departure to check the official website opening hours safe d😬.
