Not only are there many antique furnishings and jewelry, but also old photos that will transport you back in time to experience the life of the Peranakans. 📷Here's what you can experience: 1️⃣Museum visit: Listen to the stories of the Peranakans with a guide, see the old artifacts, and expand your knowledge. 2️⃣Clothing experience: For SGD 20-38, you can rent a set of traditional Peranakan clothing, put it on, take photos, and definitely look the part. Don't forget to pair it with beaded shoes for an even more authentic experience! 3️⃣Nyonya afternoon tea: Book 3 days in advance to experience a Peranakan afternoon tea, enjoy some snacks, and relax. You can also take photos outside. Downstairs is the Joo Chiat Road rainbow houses and the Koon Seng Road with its Southeast Asian charm. The colorful buildings are as vibrant as Peranakan culture. Just snap a photo, and you'll feel like you've stepped into the time tunnel of "The Little Nyonya."

Today, The Little Nyonya: Emerald Hill premieres on Netflix I guess Nyonya style 2.0 is going to be a hit! By chance, my sisters and I took a group of Nyonya street photos in Singapore. #singaporetrip Alvin is easily one the most passionate and enthusiastic people when it comes to all things peranakan/ baba nonya. The tour around his house will be one that I will never forget. Of all the items there the beaded shoes are easily my favourite exihibit. 2 stories filled with various antiques,some of which I've never seen before! Even Singapore's very own Peranakan museum does not feature most of the collection found in Alvin's place! Do take the time to listen and ask questions as Alvin's shares about the history and significance behind the pieces in his home. On hindsight, I should have brought my video camera to record my session there.

Location: Inside Little India Street, with a duck egg blue exterior, Google Maps name is "Overseas Chinese Museum VS Peranakan Museum". Adult tickets are 25, children 7. Next door, the photography service for Peranakan costumes is 135Rm including the museum ticket; it's much more cost-effective to buy them together if you want to take photos. The building is divided into two floors, with the first floor mainly consisting of the hall, reception room, and dining room, incorporating a large amount of inlay craftsmanship. Pale pink and gold are the main colors, matched with relief furniture, luxurious and grand, and the glass also features stained glass inlays. The second floor is the bedroom, where replicas of Peranakan costumes are displayed. It might be helpful to learn some information about Peranakan culture beforehand to better understand the visit. Outside the main entrance is the merchandise photo area.

#singaporetrip It was one of the best experience museum visit I have had. Alvin was such a hospitable host and he gave us interesting and valuable nuggets of information on the Peranakan culture. The stories were funny, informative, intriguing and Alan has a knack for story telling. The artefacts and antiques in the museum were fascinating and really brought me to old Singapore. The whole experience ended with tea session and Peranakan kueh around his living room and it was intimate, cosy & comfortable. I would like to give a personal thanks to Alvin for making the outing for my department so memorable and they cannot stop talking about it. Thank you Alvin for being such a gracious host!
