Orchid Exhibition (Makino Botanical Garden)
📍Orchid Exhibition (Makino Botanical Garden)
The orchid exhibition is held every year at the popular Makino Botanical Garden. An exhibition featuring more than 2,000 unique orchids began on the 8th of this month at the prefectural Makino Botanical Garden in Kochi City.
This year, the theme is "The charm of Kochi colored by orchids," and the exhibition focuses on orchids grown in the prefecture. Of the 2,200 orchids and 100 varieties gathered at the venue, more than 50 varieties were carefully cultivated by farmers in the prefecture.
The exhibition, which has a whale motif that can be seen off the coast of Kochi Prefecture, boldly arranges orange orchids grown in Tosa City in a whale-shaped frame about 3.5 meters long to express the majestic figure of a whale.
In addition, in the corner themed on Kochi's platter dishes, 10 types of orchids grown in the prefecture, each with a different color and shape, are arranged on a plate, making it an exhibition filled with the charm of unique orchids, just like a platter dish with bounty from the sea and mountains.
In addition, the venue is packed with ingenious ideas to make every corner enjoyable, such as an exhibition in which the Kochoran are likened to dancers in the Yosakoi Festival.
The Prefectural Makino Botanical Garden's Orchid Exhibition will be held from the 8th until March 2nd next month.
