Daily Itinerary
Day1: Royal Summer Resort, Tibetan Ancient Charm
Arrived in Chengde in the morning, the first stop was Chengde Mountain Resort, this royal garden built by several generations of emperors in the Qing Dynasty, is large in scale, combining the gracefulness of the Jiangnan water town and the majestic scenery of the northern frontier. Although it is February and the lake in the park has not melted, the red walls and green tiles of the palace buildings look more solemn against the white snow. Walking among them, it feels like traveling back to the prosperous Kangxi and Qianlong eras, feeling the majesty and luxury of the royal family😃.
In the afternoon, we will go to the Potala Palace Scenic Area. The Putuo Zongcheng Temple was built in imitation of the Potala Palace in Tibet. It is magnificent, and the golden roof of the "Hall of All Dharmas Returning to One" sparkles in the sun. The Xumi Fushou Temple was built to welcome the Sixth Panchen Lama. It has a unique architectural style and is full of the essence of Tibetan Buddhist culture. Wandering around, you will appreciate the stunning Tibetan architecture and solemn religious atmosphere, and marvel at the charm of ethnic integration.
Day 2: Sightseeing at the Strange Peaks, Exploring the Cultural and Historical Roots
After breakfast, we went to the Qingchui Peak National Forest Park and took the cable car up the mountain. The forest in February was covered in snow. Along the way, we could see strange peaks and rocks of various shapes. The Qingchui Peak stood alone, thick at the top and thin at the bottom, like an inverted giant hammer. The uncanny workmanship of nature was amazing😮. After reaching the top, you can overlook the entire Chengde city and the surrounding mountains and rivers. The view is broad and refreshing.
In the afternoon, we walked into Chengde Museum, where we found rich and diverse collections, ranging from ancient cultural relics to folk exhibits, which fully displayed the historical changes and customs of Chengde area. Here, it is like stepping into a time tunnel, having a conversation with history, gaining an in-depth understanding of the city’s past and present, and feeling its profound cultural heritage.
Day 3: Explore the Twin Towers and Ski Resort
In the morning, we went to the Twin Towers Mountain Scenic Area. Two huge rock pillars stood side by side, with a brick tower on each top. The magical landscape made people wonder about their origins. Climb the mountain along the trail, admire the twin towers up close, and marvel at the wonders of nature. The surrounding mountains and forests provide pleasant scenery.
In the afternoon, go to Yuanbaoshan Ski Resort (or other ski resorts), put on your ski equipment, and ride on the snow track to feel the thrill of speeding. If you are a novice, there are also professional coaches to guide you to practice slowly on the gentle beginner's track and experience the fun of skiing. When you are tired of playing, sit in the rest area of the ski resort, have a hot drink, admire the snow scenery, and enjoy the happy winter time.
Day 4: Pray in the Zen temple and explore the old streets
In the morning, go to Puning Temple. This Han-Tibetan temple is very popular. The temple houses the world's largest gold-painted wooden Buddha statue - the Thousand-armed and Thousand-eyed Guanyin Bodhisattva, which is solemn and majestic. Worship devoutly, listen to the long bell sounds, feel the tranquility and power of Buddhist culture, and pray for peace and success🧘♂️.
Then head to Anyuan Temple, where the unique architectural style complements the surrounding environment. Learn about the historical stories behind it and feel its role as a bond of national unity.
In the evening, we arrived at Chengde Old Street, where the bluestone road was winding and quaint shops were lined up on the street. Taste the special food of Chengde. Chengde donkey rolls are soft and glutinous, sweet and delicious; buckwheat noodles are smooth and chewy, and paired with the special sauce, they leave a lingering fragrance in your mouth. The trip to Chengde ended perfectly in the lively atmosphere of the old street🎉.
