Better than the Guangdong Museum! Finally, I understand the Museum of the Nanyue King Mausoleum.
I often joke with my friends that the Lingnan region has been a place of exile since ancient times, and that the museums in Guangzhou have nothing good to offer, except to outshine Shenzhen. But jokes aside, if you want to visit a museum in Guangzhou, this exhibition is a must-see.

‼️ About the Museum of the Nanyue King Mausoleum
1. The Museum of the Nanyue King Mausoleum (Mausoleum Area) is the mausoleum site museum of Zhao Mei, the second king of the Nanyue Kingdom in the Han Dynasty, who called himself Emperor Wen. His tomb was never robbed, so the burial artifacts are well preserved. The artifacts include the largest imperial seal of the Western Han Dynasty, a jade burial suit sewn with silk threads, a tiger tally, and various jade artifacts. There are also 15 sacrificial victims in the tomb.
2. The Museum of the Nanyue King (Palace Area) is located on Beijing Road, 2 km from the Mausoleum Area. It is the site of the palace and gardens of the Nanyue Kingdom. If you go to Beijing Road, you can visit the Palace Area.

👏 Visit route:
Left side of the second floor, Exhibition Hall of Unearthed Artifacts—Right side of the second floor, Special Exhibition of Porcelain Pillows—Special Exhibition on the third floor (optional if you are short on time)—Rooftop, Exhibition Hall of the Mausoleum—Mausoleum Site
.
📌 Tips:
1. The Exhibition Hall on the second floor mainly features the historical context of the "Land of Baiyue". If you are not familiar with the history of Nanyue, you can start with the second floor to get a preliminary impression. It takes about 30 minutes.
2. The Porcelain Pillow Exhibition on the second floor and the Wine Culture Exhibition on the third floor are optional. If you are short on time, you can skip them and go directly to the rooftop to see the burial artifacts.
3. The most important burial artifacts are the jade burial suit sewn with silk threads, the imperial seal, the tiger tally, the jade horn cup, and the jade bi. Out of respect, I did not take pictures of some of the artifacts. It takes 1–2 hours to visit.
4. The mausoleum is currently not open to the public, so you can only visit it from the walkway above. It takes 10 minutes to visit.
