The Naruto German House is a museum in Naruto, Tokushima Prefecture, and was established in 1972 as a memorial facility for the Bando POW Camp, which housed German soldiers captured by the Japanese Army during World War I. At this camp, the director and other management staff respected the human rights of the German soldiers and allowed them to live independently. As a result, the German soldiers used their skills to engage in various activities, including the first concert in Asia to perform all movements of Beethoven's Symphony No. 9. The German soldiers also deepened their relationships with local residents, becoming so friendly that they were affectionately referred to as "Mr. Germany." These episodes led to the Bando POW Camp being evaluated as a model camp.
The Naruto German House is a historical museum that displays the activities of the German soldiers who spent time at the Bando POW Camp and their interactions with the local people. One of the highlights is the "**Ninth Theater**," where stories from the Ninth's premiere are told through video and robots.
