Visited the Rafael exposition (paid a hefty 27 pounds) and the collection of the national Gallery. Some very nice 'obtained' art can be seen here. You need to go here if you want to see the real 'Sunflowers' of Van Gogh (and not go to the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam !). Also the masterpiece 'The Arnolfini Portrait' of Jan Van Eyck is here amongst other masterpieces. Three tours are nicely laid out. If you do all 3 of them all you have seen the whole gallery.

The best thing is free admission. The gallery was not crowded. Occasionally, you can see some small school groups but that shouldn’t deter you from visiting. There is a lot of space to wander around during your visit. You can visit the gift shop at the end of the tour as there are some interesting souvenirs that can be purchased.

The National Gallery was absolutely crowded in spite of it being a weekday and honestly with all these priceless paintings made available for the public’s viewing pleasure completely free-of-charge I can completely understand why. Since I first visited the UK all those years ago, I’ve been fascinated by the story of Lady Jane Grey and this might just be the first time I’ve seen this iconic painting depicting her in the moments leading up to her execution.
