I've just returned from a dreamlike trip to Miyakojima, Okinawa, and I must recommend this treasure island! 🌊 The sea is unbelievably blue The sea of Miyakojima is a masterpiece of nature, painted with the purest blue. At Irabu Bridge, the sea is as clear as a mirror, with different shades of blue interwoven, light blue like crystal, dark blue like a gem. Standing on the bridge, the sea breeze gently caresses your cheeks, and the waves rhythmically beat against the bridge piers. The scenery is so beautiful that every frame can be used as wallpaper. At sunset, the sun gradually sets in the west, and the afterglow spills over the sea, sparkling, and the whole world is dyed a romantic orange-red. I just sat quietly on the beach, looking at the beautiful scenery in front of me, and time seemed to stand still. 🏖 Beautiful beaches The sand here is as delicate as powder, and when you step on it barefoot, it is soft, warm, and comfortable. The beaches of Miyakojima are not only great to the touch but also incredibly clean. At Yonaha Maehama Beach, the white sand glistens in the sunlight, the coconut trees sway, and every photo you take is like a vacation blockbuster. 🎣 A variety of water activities Miyakojima is not only beautiful but also has a lot of fun activities! If you like excitement, you must not miss diving. Dive into the sea, and you can have a wonderful encounter with colorful corals and schools of fish. I also tried snorkeling, lying on the water, looking through the clear sea, and admiring the wonderful world under the sea. It was really amazing. If you want to relax, rent a small boat and drift on the sea, enjoying the sun and the sea breeze. 🍱 The taste of Miyakojima After playing, of course, you have to taste the local food! Ishigaki beef is a must-eat delicacy, tender and juicy, melts in your mouth, whether it is made into steak or hot pot, it is so delicious that you want to swallow your tongue. There is also Miyakojima's specialty ramen, rich pork bone broth with chewy noodles, plus tender char siu and smooth soft-boiled eggs, one bite, and happiness is instantly filled. I was tired from the flight today, so I went straight to the hot springs when I arrived! I went to "Shigira Golden Hot Springs". It was my first time using a private room. The hot springs here are not diluted with water♨ The open-air baths are fed directly from the source! And as the name of the hot spring suggests, the water is golden✨😆 Because it's a private room, they will bring you food and drinks if you order from the cafe on the premises! I went to Miyakojima, where the blue sea is beautiful. There are direct flights from Osaka and Tokyo. Of course, there are also many flights between Naha and Miyako. Tunchi is a national scenic spot and natural monument. From above, the two ponds of similar size resemble a pair of eyes, hence they are also known as the Dragon's Eyes. The cobalt blue waters of Tunchi are separated by a natural stone bridge. In fact, the ponds are connected underwater, and the one closer to the sea is also connected to the open sea. The name Tunchi comes from this connection. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely walk along the pondside trail to appreciate the scenery. To truly see this rare geographical feature, one must dive into the water to explore and experience its unique charm. However, caution is advised as the pond is about 50 meters deep and the journey involves passing through a dark underwater tunnel, which can be quite challenging for novice divers. Why has Tunchi become a diving hotspot? The unique topography is certainly a highlight, but the area is also where freshwater and seawater meet, creating a thermocline phenomenon that forms a unique natural landscape. Of course, the mysterious Tunchi has been associated with mermaid legends since ancient times. It is said that after a mermaid was captured by a fisherman, the King of the Sea, in a rage, caused a tsunami that formed Tunchi. It is unknown whether divers come here with the hope of seeing mermaids.

The most iconic feature of Shimojishima that comes to mind is surely the airport runway extending into the sea and the guiding light pier. The name '17 END' refers to the direction in which the airport runway extends. Due to land reclamation during the construction of Shimojishima Airport, the direction of the ocean currents changed, resulting in the accumulation of sand to form a beach. However, this beach only appears during low tide, hence it is also known as the 'Phantom Beach'. In addition to the endless azure Miyako blue seascape and the pristine white Phantom Beach, capturing the moment of an airplane's ascent or descent has made 17 END the most popular check-in spot on Shimojishima.

I have the impression that there are a lot of hamburger restaurants in Miyakojima! I wanted to eat a delicious hamburger with avocado in it! I looked into it, arrived on the island, and had a late lunch at around 3pm🍔 Maybe because of the time of day, there was another group who entered the restaurant at the same time as us. The restaurant was near Painagama Beach! It looked like there was enough space to park about two cars. The restaurant was spacious and stylish. I ordered an avocado cheese fries set♡ Of course, I had a Coke (not a zero-calorie drink). After waiting a little while (about 20 minutes?) after ordering, the hamburger arrived and I was happy with how it looked! I was given a paper bag to eat it in. The crispy bun, meaty patty, long-awaited avocado, and orange Cobb dressing all matched well, and the taste was lighter than it looked. The fries were also seasoned and crunchy, like a snack. The salad vegetables were fresh and delicious, so I ate the whole plate in one go 😋 The staff was also very nice, and because of the time of day, they were working alone, so they apologized for the delay, but... I stayed at Miyakojima Hotel Torifito Miyakojima Resort. This hotel is conveniently located 10 minutes walk from Miyako Airport and 2 minutes by car. There is also a rental car company attached to the hotel, so you can go directly to the rental car company from the hotel. It's extremely convenient, so I recommend it. Of course, if you make a reservation by phone in advance, they will pick you up at the airport. It is a resort hotel that opened in March 2021, so the rooms and facilities are super clean. The bath in the room was also very comfortable, with sufficient water pressure and a spacious bathtub. Here are some of the main recommended spots: Beaches - Yonaha Maehama Beach: Known as the "most beautiful beach in the Orient," this 7 km-long white sand beach contrasts beautifully with the crystal-clear "Miyako Blue" waters. It is one of Miyakojima's most popular spots, offering a variety of marine activities such as jet skiing.  - Sunayama Beach: A representative sightseeing spot on Miyakojima. Climb the high sand dune for a panoramic view of the cobalt blue sea and pristine white sand. The arched rock on the left side of the downslope, formed by uplifted coral reefs, is its symbol. The view of the sea from the tunnel is exceptional.  - 17END: Located at the end of Shimojishima Airport, it gets its name from the aircraft landing point at 170 degrees. At low tide, a snow-white beach appears, creating a charming landscape. It is a superb spot for sunset viewing in Miyakojima, where the surrounding scenery is painted red by the setting sun. Natural Landscapes - Higashi-hennazaki Cape: Selected as one of Japan's top 100 urban parks and a natural monument, this cape offers views of both the East China Sea and the Pacific Ocean. The lighthouse at the tip of the cape is a great place for ocean viewing, and iron bulb lilies bloom in spring.  - Sawada no Hama: One of Japan's top 100 beaches. The calm beach stretches far into the distance, perfect for leisurely strolls and sunset viewing. - Toriike Pond: A mysterious spot on the way from Irabu Island to Shimojishima. These two connected ponds, also connected to the sea, are designated as a natural monument and an important cultural property. They exhibit various colors due to changes in tide level, water temperature, and salinity. Also known as the "Japanese Blue Hole," it is one of Japan's leading diving spots. Cultural and Architectural Sites - Miyako Shrine: With a long history and mystical legends, the shrine is surrounded by lush greenery and offers a tranquil and peaceful atmosphere. Here, you can learn about the local history and culture.  - Ikema Bridge: Connecting Miyakojima and Ikema Island, this 1,425m-long bridge stretches straight out, flanked by the emerald green sea. The observation deck after crossing the bridge offers a view of Nishi-hennazaki Cape and Ogami Island.  Other - Shimoji Mangrove Forest: The largest mangrove ecosystem in Miyakojima, home to many precious plants and animals. From the moment I stepped into the lobby, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a thoughtful check-in guide. The check-in process itself was quick and smooth. Inside the room, every detail exuded quality and comfort. The spacious bedroom, soft bedding, elegant decor, and thoughtful amenities made me feel right at home. I was extremely satisfied with the hotel's service, facilities, and environment. It's not just a vacation destination; it's a place where you can slow down, appreciate nature, and savor life.

The hotel's architectural design seamlessly blends marine elements with modern aesthetics, creating a relaxing and pleasant atmosphere from the moment you step into the lobby. The rooms are spacious and bright, with simple yet stylish decor. Each room is equipped with comfortable bedding and advanced amenities, such as high-definition TVs and smart sound systems. From check-in to check-out, every step is filled with warmth and care. Overall, whether it's a family trip or a couple's getaway, you can find your own enjoyment here. Every plant, tree, mountain, and body of water is full of charm, and the hotel's service is truly unforgettable.

I visited Imugya Marine Garden during my trip to Miyakojima. It's a spot where you can enjoy breathtaking views while walking along the promenade and observation deck. The stairs can be tough, but the stunning view at the top is worth the effort. It seems you can also swim in the nearby sea. Additionally, you can see sea turtles from the sightseeing boats. The hotels in this area are luxurious, but it's quiet and the scenery is different from the northern part, so I would like to stay in this area next time.

Our second stop was Miyako Island, a beautiful Pacific island and a popular cruise destination. It's hard to get to without a cruise. Miyako Island is small, with many sugarcane fields and farms, and is famous for its brown sugar. There are also few cars on the island. We chose to rent a car and went to Higashi-Hennazaki, which has a lighthouse and a children's slide. We also went to Shigira Beach, a popular snorkeling spot. It's worth going snorkeling next time because the water is very clear and calm. We also went to a supermarket. Miyako Island is really beautiful and relaxing, and worth visiting again.
