Wuzu Temple is located in Dongshan, 16 kilometers north of Huangmei County, Hubei Province. It is also known as Dongshan Temple. It was built in the fifth year of Tang Yonghui (654) and is the dojo of the fifth generation of Chinese Zen masters. The royal gift is "the ancestral court of the world". Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty ordered the construction of the Five Patriarchs Temple, and changed the temple's forehead to "Dazhongzhongshan Temple". Yuanwen Zong bestowed the dharma name as "Miaoyuan Pujue Zen Master", and changed the temple's forehead to "Dongshan Wuzu Temple", referred to as Wuzu Temple, this name has been used until now. Wuzu Temple has beautiful scenery and many historical sites. For thousands of years, Wuzu Temple has experienced vicissitudes and was destroyed in the fourth year of Xianfeng in the Qing Dynasty (AD 1854). Only a dozen temples, pavilions and some historical sites remain. Temples and historical sites are properly protected, and in 1985, Wuzu Temple was approved as an important temple in the Han area.
