Historic buildings
The Theatre of Dionysus was first built in the 5th century BC and is one of the oldest amphitheaters in Greece. Compared with the Atticus Theater, another theater still in use on the Acropolis, this theater is not so well preserved, but the scattered stone benches and semicircular stage still make people feel here. Located on the south side of the Acropolis, the theater was named after Dionysus, the god of wine. It used to be a place to pray to the god of wine. Ancient Athenians loved theater, and many ancient playwrights performed their plays here. Today, there is only a well-preserved semicircular stage and some scattered marble seats, but looking down from the top of the theater, the whole theater is still very majestic and shocking.
