Tianshui Spicy Hot Pot Trip∣Visit Tianshui Museum to See National Treasures, Niche but Worth It
👍Most Recommended: Tianshui Museum, a national first-class museum, located within the Fuxi Temple, forming a layout of 'temple and museum in one.' The main exhibition follows the theme of 'Cultural Tianshui,' taking us through Tianshui's historical memories from the splendor of prehistoric civilization to the rise of the Great Qin Empire, from the prosperity of Silk Road trade to the eastward spread of Buddhist culture. Additionally, there are special exhibition halls for painted pottery, bronzes, ceramics, calligraphy, and paintings, as well as a relocated and restored Song Dynasty tomb exhibition. It's truly worthy of being a national first-class museum. The museum houses over 30,000 pieces, including stone tools, pottery, ceramics, bronzes, ironware, ancient books and paintings, miscellaneous items, folk artifacts, modern paintings, and ancient coins.
🌟Highlights:
👍1. National Treasure-level Artifact - Sui and Tang Dynasty Gilded Painted Stone Couch with Surrounding Screens. In a separate exhibition hall, it is one of the few relics of Sogdian burial customs in China, unearthed in 1982. The left, right, and back of the bed are inlaid with stone panels carved with 11 groups of screen paintings, exquisitely carved, gilded, and painted, splendid and magnificent. The remaining gilded parts still slightly shimmer with gold. As a testament to the mutual learning between Central Plains culture and the civilizations along the Silk Road, it holds significant value for studying cultural exchanges, carving art, ethnic music, costume features, and living customs from the Northern Dynasties to the Sui and Tang periods in China. However, it is sometimes not open to the public, making it truly rare to see.
👍2. Museum Treasure - Painted Pottery Dancing Horse. Entirely gray-white, with red applied to the head, neck, and saddle. The horse is saddled, with headgear, reins, and a bridle. The front left hoof is raised, the long mane tilts to the right, the mouth is open as if neighing, the tail is tied, the posture is vigorous and free, the bones are strong and powerful, and the eyes are bright and lively, as if dancing gracefully to music.
❤️3. Be sure to read the annotations on the museum walls, which provide explanations for a series of artifacts, greatly aiding the museum visit.
