[2025 Shanghai Attraction] Travel Guide for Tianzifang (Updated Apr)

Day 1: Arrival in Shanghai Morning: Arrive at Shanghai Pudong International Airport. Afternoon: Visit the Bund, enjoy the scenery on both sides of the Huangpu River, and take photos. Evening: Stroll along Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street, enjoy night shopping and food. Day 2: Cultural and Historical Exploration Morning: Visit the Shanghai Museum to learn about China's rich history and culture. Afternoon: Tour Yuyuan Garden and the City God Temple to experience the traditional Jiangnan garden style. Evening: Have dinner at Nanxiang Steamed Bun Restaurant and taste authentic xiaolongbao. Day 3: Modernity and Technology Morning: Visit the Oriental Pearl Tower and enjoy a panoramic view of Shanghai from the top. Afternoon: Visit the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum, which is great for families with its interactive and engaging exhibits. Evening: Take a night cruise on the Huangpu River and enjoy the Shanghai light show. Day 4: Surrounding Area Tour All day: Choose a day trip to Zhujiajiao Ancient Town or Zhouzhuang to experience the charm of the water towns. Day 5: Shopping and Departure Morning: Last-minute shopping in the city, you can go to Tianzifang or Xintiandi, where there are many independent designer shops and artworks. Alternatively, you can visit the Bicester Outlet near Pudong Airport for some shopping before your flight. Afternoon: Head to the airport according to your flight schedule.

Two of us could only take one day off, so we went on a 2-night, 3-day trip from Saturday to Monday. Here’s our travel itinerary. ❤️Day 1❤️ 1️⃣ Dim Sum Lunch at DimDouDum We took a 9 AM flight from Incheon to Shanghai, arriving just in time for lunch. We had dim sum at DimDouDum in Xintiandi. 2️⃣ Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea A must-visit historical site for Koreans! The entrance fee is 20 yuan. 3️⃣ Xintiandi Shopping Right next to the Provisional Government site is a famous shopping street. I bought cosmetics at Harmay. 4️⃣ Tianzifang A famous area with various shops in small alleys. Great for buying souvenirs. I bought tea at Blend Bunny, and my companion bought magnets at the shop next door. 5️⃣ Yuyuan Garden When we visited in January, it was festival season, so we had to buy a ticket to enter. Instead, there was a large night market outside. 6️⃣ Nanjing Road East A must-visit in Shanghai! We walked from Nanjing Road East Station to the Bund, enjoying the sights. 7️⃣ The Bund The iconic night view of Shanghai. The view of Nanjing Road East in front and European-style buildings behind is beautiful. 8️⃣ Crab Noodle Soup for Dinner The restaurant we originally planned to visit had a long wait, so we went to a local restaurant that seemed popular. We had crab noodle soup. 9️⃣ Getting a Manicure Nail art is almost half the price in China compared to Korea. If you like nail art, I recommend getting it done while traveling. I made a reservation in Korea and got gel removal and magnetic gel nails for 139 yuan. ❤️Day 2❤️ 1️⃣ Starbucks Reserve Roastery We had booked a day tour to a water town, so we had to be at People’s Square Station by 11:50 AM. After breakfast at the hotel, we had coffee at Starbucks, which is just one subway stop away. 2️⃣ Fengjing Ancient Town There are several water towns near Shanghai. We went to Fengjing Ancient Town. It opened in 2023, so it’s clean and not crowded. Great for photos. Recently, many people have been getting Wanghong makeup and wearing Hanfu for photos at Yuyuan Garden, and you can do the same here for a much cheaper price. You need to book in advance, so if you’re interested, make a reservation. 3️⃣ Late Dinner at Haidilao Hot Pot The tour ends back at People’s Square Station. We had a late dinner at Haidilao nearby. ❤️Day 3❤️ We had breakfast and headed to the airport for our 12 PM flight. We arrived in Incheon a little after 3 PM.

The Pearl of the Orient 📍Address: No. 1 Century Avenue, Pudong New Area 🎫 Tickets: Different package prices vary, it is recommended to choose as needed ⏳Time: 08:30 - 21:30 As an iconic building in Shanghai, the Pearl of the Orient is a must-visit. #chinatrip One of my favorite places to visit in Shanghai, it is just so picturesque! Nice little shops, well decorated alleys, great snacks around and so perfect for taking pictures! Pretty from the outside but not much to see inside. It's mostly shops with repeating themes like the rabbit milk candy. Found a cool shop with really cute pins though. You can just take a few pictures and leave, and definitely skippable.

If Xintiandi is a high-class and fashionable town, Tianzifang is a town where you can feel the local atmosphere. There are shops selling handmade goods, cosmetics, and shaved ice. There is a specialty drinkable yogurt, so I recommend you try it. It has just the right amount of acidity and is very delicious. It takes an hour to go around once, but if you want to shop slowly, you can go around twice and enjoy about 2 hours. After having a full cup of coffee, it was time to go for a walk to digest at “Tian Zi Fang”, a shopping area where the shops are located in alleys. There are souvenir shops, restaurants, bars, cafes, Chinese tea shops, and traditional dessert shops. The building still preserves its old style very well. Tianzifang田子坊 Taking small walk during the day in one of the most historical places in Shanghai. So many tiny cute stores galleries, coffeshops and bars. It's very colorful and bright with greeneries hugging old buildings. What I really like about small shops in Shanghai is the super cute entrance design with main display facing consumers at the doors where you can see the most adorable and beautiful products such as perfume, chocolate, tea, souvenirs etc. Every store has its own style and never repetitive. Imagine you are in Shanghai. It is Saturday evening, you don’t know where to hang out with your friends, I just have a word: Tianzifang! The historic buildings are still maintained and most of the place is filled with art galleries. Even though this is one of the main tourist spots in Shanghai and has lot of crowd all through out the day but its still kept well clean and maintained, even the smaller streets around this area. 🤩 Moreover, the shops here are really nice and you can find typical souvenirs with a bit more local flair. Many of which are have English and are clearly tourist friendly. The Bars in my opinion are the main attraction. You can always find your favourite brand of beverages and alcohol in one the stylish boutique drinking holes.
