Authentic Taiwanese stinky hotpot
I am a foodie who likes to try different flavors of Taiwanese beef noodles. This time I came to Tie Niu Taiwanese Beef Noodles in Central, a restaurant run by Taiwanese, to taste their dinner. The environment here is clean and comfortable, the service attitude is friendly and the price is reasonable. I ordered two pots, one is the double cheese and milk pot, and the other is the iron cow stinky pot, both are served with Hsinchu rice noodles and Angus beef slices. In addition, I also ordered appetizers, including fried chicken, night market sausages and cold cucumber, and drinks such as Thanksgiving bubble milk tea and Nantou County passion fruit QQ.
The double cheese milk hotpot has a very special flavor. The soup base is made from milk and cheddar cheese. It is rich and fragrant, a bit like eating cheese hotpot. There are a variety of rich ingredients in the pot, including cheese balls, taro meatballs, rice blood cake, honeycomb tofu, crab sticks, bird's nest dumplings, snow clams, bell peppers, eggs, baby cabbage, enoki mushrooms, vegetables, vermicelli, and mushrooms. My favorite is the cheese ball. When you bite it, thick cheese juice flows out, which is really delicious when paired with the milk soup base. The Angus beef slices are also very tender, with delicate texture and melt-in-your-mouth texture. Hsinchu rice noodles absorb the essence of the soup and are chewy and springy. It is one of my favorite noodles.
Tie Niu Stinky Hotpot has a very Taiwanese flavor. The soup base is made with stinky tofu and duck blood. It has a strong flavor and is not suitable for people who are afraid of stinky food. The ingredients in the pot are similar to those in the double cheese and milk pot, except that there are more stinky tofu and duck blood, and fewer cheese balls and cheddar cheese. I think stinky tofu and duck blood are both very tasty and have a unique charm that makes me unable to stop eating them. The Angus beef slices and Hsinchu rice noodles also go well with this soup base, which made me enjoy it very much.
As for appetizers, the fried chicken and night market sausages are a classic Taiwanese snack. The fried chicken is fried until crispy, with a crispy skin and tender and juicy meat inside. The night market sausages are sweet and have a taste of childhood. Both are served with garlic slices and basil to enhance the flavor. Cold cucumber salad is a very refreshing side dish. The cucumber is cut into thin slices and mixed with vinegar and sugar. It tastes sour and sweet, and is appetizing and refreshing.
As for drinks, I’m grateful for the pearl milk tea. The milk tea is sweet and the pearls are chewy and very delicious. Nantou County's passion fruit QQ is a very refreshing drink. The passion fruit has a lot of pulp and juice, and it tastes sour and sweet, giving a summery feeling. QQ refers to the coconut flakes, which have a crispy taste and are very special.
