I stumbled upon the Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum while looking at a map at the station and noticed a large green area. I decided to take a stroll here. From Shirokanedai Station, I walked past the Institute for Nature Study and found a beige building that harmonizes beautifully with the garden's greenery. This museum, built in 1983, utilizes the former residence of the Asaka family, a former imperial family, which was constructed in 1933 in the French Art Deco style. Unlike other museums, the Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum is unique in that it does not exhibit various paintings and sculptures but rather focuses on garden and architectural design. The residence was built in 1933 to cater to the tastes of Prince Asaka, who had studied in France, hence the adoption of the then-popular French Art Deco architectural style. Due to its historical and cultural significance, it was designated a Tangible Cultural Property of Japan in 2015. In autumn, the red maple leaves here are stunning. Upon entering the museum, I was immediately struck by the architecture that blends traditional and modern design, with the interior space being particularly impressive. One exhibition, in particular, focused on the relationship between nature and the city, deeply resonating with me. For lunch, I enjoyed a delicate bento at the museum's café, with the garden view outside the window bringing me immense joy. Day 2: On the second day, I planned to continue exploring the surroundings of the Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum. This Tokyo trip was made exceptionally wonderful by the Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum. Here, I not only admired beautiful artworks but also felt the perfect blend of nature and art. The Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum, located in Meguro, is a museum that has been renovated from the former residence of Prince Asaka. It hosts various special exhibitions from time to time. This time, there was a special exhibition themed around lighting, unraveling the history of Art Deco through the lighting fixtures actually used in the former residence of Prince Asaka. I visited with my son, who is studying architecture. The lighting fixtures in each room, designed with the cutting-edge styles of their time, still look timeless and were an amazing display. My son, a member of Generation Z, was greatly impressed, and it was touching to see how top-notch craftsmanship transcends generations and continues to live on. :)

beautiful place to visit while in japan, such an incredible experience. if you’re a Disney lover, definitely do not miss out on this! the park is smaller than other Disney locations in the world but it’s super great to do all in one day. there are different themed sections, each with multiple gift shops, food stands, and restaurants. honestly worth checking out!
