[Tokyo] Beautiful cherry blossoms and their history
When will they bloom this year, when will they be in full bloom, and how long will they last?
Every year, when spring comes, all Japanese people start to get excited about cherry blossoms, a seasonal feature of spring.
There are many famous places in Tokyo, but this time we will introduce the cherry blossoms that are in people's lives along with their history☺️
1. Edo Sakura Street
A famous cherry blossom spot in Nihonbashi.
A row of cherry trees continues between beautiful buildings such as the Bank of Japan Head Office (completed in 1896), an important cultural property, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, and Mitsukoshi.
There are also cherry blossom-colored lights and events, making the streets of Nihonbashi look gorgeous.

2. Sakurazaka
A row of cherry trees that can be seen after passing through the commercial building "Sakura Stage".
Sakuragaoka-cho was developed as a residential area during the Meiji Restoration, and cherry trees were planted at that time.
Until the recent redevelopment began, the old streetscape remained and the area was called the Galapagos of Shibuya.

3. Yoyogi ParkBefore the war, it was an army training ground, and after the war, it was Washington Heights, a barracks site for the US military, and then the Tokyo Olympic Village, before becoming a park.
The spacious park has a fountain, a rose garden, a dog run, and a cycling lane, where people can spend their time as they like.

4. Tokyo Sakura Tram
The Toden Arakawa Line was given the nickname "Tokyo Sakura Tram" in 2017.
It runs through famous cherry blossom spots such as Asukayama Park, Arakawa Amusement Park, and along the Kanda River.
There used to be as many as 40 tram lines running throughout Tokyo, but now only this line remains, which has many dedicated lines (less impact on car traffic).

5. Arai 5-chome Pedestrian Bridge
The rows of cherry trees along Nakano-dori Street, which began to be planted in the 1950s.
It continues for about 2km from the north exit of JR Nakano Station to Tetsugakudo Park.
However, the Seibu Line crossing this row of cherry trees will no longer be visible in a few years.
In order to alleviate chronic congestion, construction work has begun to move the line underground.
