[Tomioka City, Gunma Prefecture] Tomioka Silk Mill
I went to the Tomioka Silk Mill, one of Japan's World Heritage Sites, in Tomioka City, Gunma Prefecture. As a World Heritage Certification holder, I wanted to visit Japan's first full-scale mechanical silk mill🏭. There was a wide range of exhibits, from the silk mill at the time of its opening, which supported Japan's modernization, to the cocoon warehouse and the tools used by the employees at the time, so I was able to feel not only the buildings but also the history of Japanese industry itself🙆♂️. I went there in the evening, so the factories standing against the backdrop of the sunset created a retro landscape🌇. *As an aside, the plants on the premises are modeled after silkworm cocoons, and I was deeply moved by the craftsmanship that paid attention to every detail.---------------------------------------------
