Tsuen Wan is located in the southwest of Hong Kong's New Territories. There are many historical sites worth visiting. Walking along the ancient trails in Tsuen Wan, exploring ancient temples, or tasting and dining in traditional teahouses are all good choices for reminiscing about old Hong Kong. Tsuen Wan was originally called Repulse Bay, named after its location on the beach and shallow water. Chuan Lung Village is one of the older villages in Tsuen Wan, located at the foot of Tai Mo Shan, a higher mountain in Hong Kong. There was a clear stream that irrigated the nearby orchards and farmland, and Chuanlong Village developed along the waterfront, and arable land can still be seen in the village today. There are several famous teahouses in Chuanlong Village, including Cailong Teahouse and Duanji Teahouse. The 200-year-old Hakka Walled Village - San Tung Uk Museum is located near the Tsuen Wan MTR Station. This walled village was listed as a historic monument in 1981. It was built in 1786 by the Chen family from Guangdong. When the Chen family first settled on the Tsuen Wan waterfront, they only built three rows of houses. Later, the clansmen built the ancestral hall and expanded other buildings, which are well preserved to this day. Another place in Tsuen Wan to explore the old countryside is the Yuen Tsuen Ancient Road Country Trail. This is the trade route between the former Tsuen Wan and Yuen Long. This trail is 12.5 kilometers long and runs through Tai Lam Country Park. At the top of the mountain, you can overlook the charming scenery of Tsuen Wan and Kowloon, as well as the world-famous Tsing Ma Bridge, which spans across Tai Lam Country Park. Ma Wan Strait, the longest dual-purpose suspension bridge in the world for vehicles and subways.
