Historic buildings
Tsukiji Honganji is a Honganji temple of the Jodo Shinshu sect located in Tokyo, adjacent to Tokyo Train Station and Ginza Temple. The original Tsukiji Honganji Temple, built in 1617, has a long history and prosperous incense. It is an annex of Kyoto Honganji Temple. It is a pity that it was destroyed later. The rebuilt temple was based on the style of Tianzhu Jialan, and a unique temple was built with bricks and stones with a unique design. Not only is it special in appearance, its layout and decoration actually incorporate the characteristics of various religions. There are seats in the main hall for good believers to pray silently, and there is also a standard church-pipe organ. Tsukiji Honganji is one of the most representative temples in Tokyo, and many people come here to pray.

Let's go to the now closed Tsukiji Market

Let's go to the Tsukiji Inner Market, which is now closed.
The inner market ended operations in October 2018, but the outer market still remains.
It is the world's largest fish market and a representative place for Japanese food.
It is a place that cannot be left out when it comes to Japanese food, to the point that it is called the kitchen of Japan.
It has been featured in many media outlets, but the most famous one is probably Mister Sushi King.

A Blend of Serenity and Bustle
Day 1: Immersed in History
Tokyo's morning sun breaks through the clouds, casting a warm golden hue over the city. I began my day of exploration at Tsukiji Hongan-ji, a temple with a history spanning over a century and one of Japan's most iconic Buddhist temples. As I stepped inside, the air was thick with the scent of incense, and the flickering candles on the altar stood in stark contrast to the surrounding tranquility. Despite being located in the heart of Tokyo, the temple's interior exudes a serene and peaceful atmosphere, making one feel as if they have traveled through time, far from the city's hustle and bustle.
Day 2: Bustling Markets and Modern Energy
Influenced by the profound experience at Tsukiji Hongan-ji, I decided to visit the nearby Tsukiji Market to experience its vibrant energy. The market buzzes with activity in the morning, with vendors enthusiastically calling out, and an array of fresh seafood, colorful fruits, and vegetables on display. This place is one of Tokyo's beating hearts, with each stall telling its own unique story. After savoring some sushi, I left the market, still hearing the lively chatter, yet feeling a sense of quiet and contentment within—a city's multifaceted nature unfolding before my eyes.

💞Reasons for recommendation: It was rebuilt after a major fire and is now in its current form, but it's a building with an Asian feel🏠
The inside is also very beautiful and there is a statue of Amida Buddha. The visit is to offer incense! There were a lot of tourists🤍
It's close to the Tsukiji Outer Market, just across the big intersection, so it's a good place to visit😍
Also, it's bigger than I thought, which surprised me🫢

Eastern Zen and Western Elegance: Strolling Through Tsukiji Hongwanji Temple
In the early morning, the soft light casts a glow on the unique exterior of Tsukiji Hongwanji Temple, whose silhouette resembles ancient Indian Buddhist architecture, standing out against Tokyo's skyline. As you step inside the temple, a blend of Eastern and Western cultures greets you.
The main hall of Hongwanji is built with stone, featuring an arched dome and intricately carved windows that exude an exotic charm. Sunlight filters through the stained glass, casting a gentle glow inside. The Buddha statues within are solemn yet warm, inspiring a sense of reverence. Worshippers pray quietly, with the sound of Buddhist chants and wind chimes lingering in the air.
Outside, the courtyard is adorned with elegant greenery and flowing water. Walking through it, one feels a moment of tranquility. The bustling Tsukiji Market is not far away, yet at this moment, Hongwanji Temple feels like a serene oasis, allowing visitors to momentarily set aside worldly concerns and find inner peace. The charm of Tsukiji Hongwanji lies not only in its unique architecture but also in the tranquility and inspiration it offers to every traveler.

[Tokyo | Tsukiji] A short trip abroad ✈️ A unique Indian-style temple 🛕
🏠 Tsukiji Honganji Temple 📍 3-15-1 Tsukiji, Chuo-ku, Tokyo 104-8435 🚶 1 minute walk from Tsukiji Station 💰 Free Reservation: None Time required: 20-30 minutes 📷: Partially OK

A very unique temple that catches your eye as soon as you step out of Tsukiji. There are many designs that are not found in Japan, such as the curved stairs, the motifs on the pillars, and the animal statues, and there are plenty of things to see!
There are many animals hidden, so it's fun to look for them! The night lighting is also beautiful 🤩

Tsukiji Hongwan-ji
Large Buddhist Temple located right across the street from Tsukiji Fish Market. It takes about a 5 min walk. From the exterior, it definitely do not look like a temple, so it was pretty cool to see the different architecture of temples in central Tokyo. You can go inside for free and I recommend you stop by the cafe too if you are visiting the area. They serve lunch, dessert and tea too. #temple #japan #buddhism #tsukiji #tsukijimarket

[Breakfast in Tsukiji Honganji Temple]
Every time you pass through Tsukiji, you will see a striking building, that is, Tsukiji Honganji Temple. The present hall was built in 1934, and its appearance mimics the appearance of ancient Indian Buddhist architecture, so it is very different from the Japanese temples that are commonly seen. I came here this morning for nothing else. I want to have breakfast at the cafe in the territory of the Honganji Temple. There are a number of branches in
Caf Tsumugi, but the breakfast porridge provided here is limited to this one. It is no wonder that the working day is also queued for the same position, and the number plate is issued, while stocks last. Everyone agrees, the point is "18 food breakfast porridge", the name comes from the 18th wish of Amitabha's forty-eight wishes, designed 16 kinds of side dishes, plus miso soup and porridge, a total of 18 kinds, composed Luxury breakfast lineup. It includes a variety of delicate dishes such as duck meat, yuba, kelp, egg rolls, etc., pick up a small dish, and also have the name of each dish on the pad. Porridge and soup can be added for free. The set menu is also served with hot tea or cold tea. Hot tea is a blend of tea produced in Sanchong County and tea produced in Fukuoka. The cold tea is Kagoshima tea.
