Three hotels on the Uluwatu cliffs in Bali, Hilton LXR Hotel
On the cliffs of the southern coast of Bali, there are four international chain hotels side by side. Apart from the top luxury Bulgari, the other three have similar prices and are competitors. Last year I experienced Alila, and this year I stayed at Six Senses and LXR. This article will compare the three from the perspective of LXR.
Public area and main pool, Alila > Six Senses > LXR
The reception lobby of LXR is somewhat ordinary, resembling many seaside resort hotels. It stands tall on a terrace, offering a glimpse of the sea through the flowers and trees. The main pool is not below the lobby, so it cannot enhance the view. The hotel has only one pool, which, although infinity, is very small and lacks special design and decoration. There is little motivation to take out your phone for photos.
Pool villa, LXR > Six Senses = Alila
Private space is LXR's biggest advantage. The large oceanfront pool villa offers a magnificent sea view and white cliffs right in front of you. You can even see swifts flying into the cliff caves. The room decoration is high-end, and the facilities are complete. You can step out to the pool by opening the floor-to-ceiling glass door. There is also a separate hot tub.
Breakfast, LXR > Alila > Six Senses
LXR's breakfast is arranged by the infinity pool, though the indoor area is somewhat dim, it does not affect the beautiful display. The offerings are excellent, with a wide variety of options. The ร la carte menu items are exquisite, and even the fruits are served as fruit platters. It is a rare brunch in Bali that can make you feel full.
Service, Six Senses > Alila > LXR
LXR's service level is somewhat lacking. There was no one to receive us at the lobby initially, and after checking in, we found the room was still being cleaned. We had to return to the lobby, and were compensated with an upgrade to a first-row unobstructed sea view villa, but it still affected our mood. Additionally, the response of the shuttle service was slow, which was quite annoying.
Activities and member benefits, Six Senses > Alila = LXR
LXR's special activity is taking a shuttle to the public beach below the cliff, with free admission. There is a small area exclusive to the hotel, but the quality of the beach is concerning, with many cigarette butts. However, looking up at the cliff top, you can roughly guess the location of your room, which brings some inexplicable joy. The treatment for Diamond members is decent and considerate.
Overall evaluation, LXR > Alila > Six Senses
Although LXR is an old hotel renovated, its public areas are not impressive, but the room facilities, breakfast quality, and greenery far exceed expectations. Personally, I think it is relatively the best among the three on the cliff.
Finally, if you ask me, who likes new things, which one I would choose to stay at again next year when I come to Bali? The answer is probably none. I would rather stay again at Andaz Sanur Beach.
Ps, the other hotels mentioned in the article have also been posted with stay experiences before. Feel free to check them out. Thank you for reading.
