I got up early and took a ferry from the Cirkewwa port of Malta to the Mgarr port of this paradise-like Gozo Island (Gozo) to start my day trip to Gozo Island. 🟧Gozo Island Introduction The second largest island in Malta, Gozo, is located to the northwest of the main island, 14 kilometers long and 7 kilometers wide, it is really a small place. But when it comes to its history, it can be traced back to thousands of years ago, there were already traces of human activities here. The capital Victoria City (Victoria) with its earthy yellow buildings and those crisscrossing alleys that make people lose their way, surprisingly gives people the illusion of being in Fez, Morocco. But the local customs here are much better, the passionate and friendly Maltese give people a full sense of security. Climbing up the Citadel castle located in the center of Victoria City, you can take in the scenery of the island. You can also take a hop-on hop-off sightseeing bus like me to tour the entire island. Malta may be small, but it takes a long time to explore each of its three islands and six districts. Gozo Island is like a spider web, with Victoria City at its center and caves, temples, and beaches scattered around the island. Climb up to the Citadel and look down at the town below, and it feels like time has stopped. How to get there 💡? The cheapest way is to take a bus to Cirkewwa Ferry Terminal (Google Maps: 🎈Cirkewwa Ferry Terminal), then take a ferry to Gozo Island (30 mins). For the return journey, board the ferry at 🎈Mgarr Tourist Services. 💰You don't need to buy a ticket for the outbound journey, but you do need to buy a ticket for the return journey. Daytime tickets cost €4.65 (see the attached image for the timetable and prices). 💁Tips: ✨All buses from the Gozo ferry terminal go to Victoria City (20–30 mins). You can use a Malta bus card on the island. If you buy a single ticket, it is valid for 2 hours. If you time it right, you can use the same ticket to travel from the main island to Victoria City. ✨There are several attractions in Malta with "blue" in their name. The famous "Azure Window" that collapsed is on Gozo Island. The best time to visit is around 1–2 pm. I missed it because all buses need to transfer at Victoria City, and buses here only run every 20–30 mins. ✨I stayed in St. Julian's on the main island, so it was more convenient to go to Cirkewwa Ferry Terminal. If you are staying in Valletta, you can take a ferry from the main terminal. ✨Cirkewwa has yachts that go to Comino Island. Tickets cost €15 per person. You can take a round-trip to Comino Island or go to Comino Island and then Gozo Island. However, the ticket does not include the return journey from Gozo Island to Cirkewwa.

When visiting Malta, in addition to touring the main island, be sure to leave a day or two for Gozo Island. If you are staying in Sliema or St. Julian's, you need to take a bus to Cirkewwa Pier first, and then take the ferry. - The ferry basically runs every half hour, and you only need to buy a ticket once when returning from Gozo Island to the main island. You can also buy a ticket before boarding the ferry on the main island, and swipe your ticket to board the return trip (4.5 euros per person). - The main transportation on Gozo Island is buses and taxis. There is a type of sightseeing bus on the island that costs 20 euros per person.
