I saw the three towers reflected on the water. When the water rippled, the reflections were slightly distorted, like the glow of the moon. End at the West Lake Viewing Points: Find a peaceful spot to relax and enjoy the views or continue your journey to other parts of West Lake via the connecting pathway. --- 🫧 Tips for Visiting 🫧 • Time to Explore: I had only 1.5 hours and it wasn't enough! To truly enjoy the park, I think I would need at least 3 hours. And avid photographers or flower enthusiasts might need a full half day. • Best Time to Visit: I can see that the park is charming all year-round as I went there on a rainy day and still found it very beautiful, but I’ve heard spring (March to May) is especially stunning for flower viewing, and autumn offers gorgeous foliage. • Bring Snacks: There’s limited food within the park, so packing some light snacks is a good idea if you’re staying long. • Wear Comfortable Shoes: The paths are easy to walk but involve some uneven terrain. You might also want to try crossing the stream on the stones, so sturdy shoes are recommended to not fall on the ground or water 😆 • Arrive Early: I visited early on a rainy morning and had the place almost to myself. By late morning, even with the rain, the park grew noticeably crowded. Arriving early ensures you can enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. ---

We spent three days and two nights in Hangzhou this time, and found that West Lake is very different from the parks in Guangzhou. It has a different charm, different scenery, and different culture. Many famous people in history have left their footprints here, so it can be said that West Lake has a much deeper cultural heritage. The scenery around the lake is beautiful, and the ten scenes of West Lake are all well-deserved. I personally think that the most beautiful place in this season is Viewing Fish at Flower Harbor, where there are pavilions, bridges, streams, lakes, and many maple trees. The leaves are red at this time, and many people are taking travel photos in various costumes. If you have good physical strength, I highly recommend walking around the lake, because the scenery here is very dense, and you will miss a lot of beautiful spots if you take a car. No wonder Su Shi liked Hangzhou so much, he often went boating on West Lake and wrote the famous line "The West Lake looks like the fair lady at her best, whether she is richly adorned or plainly dressed." I started my West Lake tour from Beishan Street to watch the sunrise, and then went to Broken Bridge after the sunset. I walked along Bai Causeway, passing by the ten scenes of West Lake, such as Autumn Moon over the Calm Lake, Zhejiang Museum, Xiling Society of Seal Arts, Gushan Road, etc. After crossing Xiling Bridge, I left Gushan Island, and at the other end of the bridge is the tomb of the famous courtesan Su Xiaoxiao. Then I continued to Quyuan Garden, Viewing Fish at Flower Harbor, Prince Bay, Leifeng Pagoda, and then to Jixian Pavilion to watch the sunset. Maple Viewing and Metasequoia Walking Spots: Prince Bay Park, Viewing Fish at Flower Harbor, Guo's Villa, Quyuan Garden 🍜 Food Guide: Zhiweiguan (braised food, pastries and snacks), Hangzhou Restaurant (smoked fish, oil buns) Travel Guide: 1. Transfer to Metro Line 1 at Hangzhou East Railway Station (Longxiangqiao Station Exit C, Hubin Plaza) 2. Walk to Yigongyuan Bus Stop (about 10 minutes), passing by the flagship store of Hangzhou's time-honored brand Zhiweiguan and Hangzhou Restaurant. 3. Take the West Lake Ring Line or 1314 Zhongyi Bus to Su Causeway Station, walk back to the traffic light intersection, and you will find the entrances to Prince Bay Park and Viewing Fish at Flower Harbor on both sides of the road. Visit Prince Bay Park first (about 1 hour), then Viewing Fish at Flower Harbor (about 1–2 hours). 4. The other exit of Viewing Fish at Flower Harbor is Yuhuwan Station. After visiting, you can choose Su Causeway Station or Yuhuwan Station and take the ring line to Guo's Villa. 5. The largest metasequoia forest area in West Lake is on both sides of Yang Causeway and Guo's Villa. The visit takes about 1 hour (Guo's Villa ticket is CNY 10). 6. Walk 20 minutes from Guo's Villa to Quyuan Garden, and the visit takes about 1–2 hours. The exit of Quyuan Garden Pier is Yue Fei Temple. 💗 Other Tips: 1. Although there are maple leaves in other scenic spots of West Lake, they are not as attractive as the dense and thick ones in Viewing Fish at Flower Harbor. Coupled with the nearby metasequoia forest, this is a rare boutique route for winter hiking with beautiful scenery and few people. 2. If you have good physical strength, you can plan to add Yuhuwan and Maojiabu to your itinerary.
