The War Memorial of Korea, located in Yongsan District, Seoul, is one of the largest war-themed museums in the world. The museum was officially opened on June 10, 1994. It was formerly the headquarters of the South Korean Army. It experienced the period of Japanese military stationing and American military camps, and was later converted into a memorial that integrates history, military and patriotism education. The memorial covers an area of 20,000 square meters, consisting of two underground floors and four above-ground floors. It has seven theme exhibition rooms, which fully display the history of war and the development of the army from ancient times to modern times in South Korea. The iconic landscapes of the memorial include the "Gwanggaeto the Great Monument", "Brotherhood Statue" and "Korean War Memorial", and the entrance corridor is engraved with the names of the soldiers who died in the war. As an important cultural landmark in Seoul, the museum not only carries historical memories, but also conveys the preciousness of peace to the public through free opening, military exercise displays and educational activities.
