The Reclining Buddha
#klinsider
Passing by on a visa processing in Kota Bahru. Magnificent and holy place for Buddhist religion. The main attraction is the large reclining Buddha. There is a smaller sized four faced Buddha situated on its left front. There is another side temple housing the Kuanyin goddess. Near the entrance is a small stall selling fresh coconut drinks. There are other buildings for meditation and prayers. Beautiful temple and worth visiting. There are shops at the side where you can eat and have some drinks. The temple is well maintained and clean. There are stray dogs so just be careful and aware to avoid being bitten. One of a kind, unique and interesting place. It houses one of the largest sleeping buddha in south east asia. It is a must-go attraction for tourist, and holy place for believers.

Wat Pho (Temple of the Reclining Buddha)
Wat Pho, also known as the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, is one of the oldest and largest temples in Thailand and the birthplace of traditional Thai massage. The most famous attraction is the 46-meter-long, 15-meter-high golden reclining Buddha, which lies serenely within the temple. The soles of the Buddha's feet are inlaid with intricate mother-of-pearl designs, which are truly breathtaking.
In addition to the reclining Buddha, the entire temple complex is vast, containing over 1,000 Buddha images and four grand stupas. Walking through the temple feels like traveling through a time tunnel of art and faith. The architectural style of the temple combines traditional Thai and Chinese elements, making it perfect for photography and appreciating architectural beauty.
Moreover, Wat Pho houses a Thai massage school that offers authentic Thai massage experiences, making it a great place to relax and rejuvenate. Despite the number of tourists, the large temple grounds ensure it never feels crowded.
It is recommended to plan your visit along with the nearby Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew, which are just a few minutes' walk away. Wat Pho is a perfect destination that combines religion, culture, art, and wellness, and is highly recommended!
