Spring OutingsNo.4 of Spring Outings in Madrid
Parque de la Occidental is located in the northwest of Madrid, Spain, covering an area of about 100 hectares and is known as the "green lung of the city". The most famous attraction in the park is the Ramón Ortiz Rose Garden, which was built in 1956 and covers an area of 18,000 square meters. It has planted more than 500 varieties of roses and holds the "International New Rose Competition" every May, attracting gardening enthusiasts from all over the world. Another highlight of Parque de la Occidental is the Temple of Debod, an Egyptian temple from the 2nd century BC. It was donated to Spain by the Egyptian government in 1968 in gratitude for its contribution to the protection of Nubian relics. The temple is located on the heights of the park and has a panoramic view of Madrid, which is particularly spectacular at sunset. The park also has a cable car that connects Rosales Avenue and Casa de Campo Park. The entire journey is 2.5 kilometers, providing a view overlooking the Manzanares River and the city skyline. As one of Madrid's most popular leisure spots, the West Park combines nature, history and modern facilities, making it an ideal place for citizens to stroll, exercise and explore culture.
