During the 'Anshi Rebellion', Li Bai was sentenced to exile in Yelang (now eastern Guizhou) because of his involvement in the case of Prince Yong Li Lin. When he arrived at Baidi City, he suddenly received the amnesty order from Emperor Suzong. The overjoyed Li Bai suddenly felt like a bird that had broken out of its cage. The suffocating hardships and the unjust accusations that were hard to wash away suddenly disappeared. He immediately got up and took a boat from Baidi City to Jiangling. On the way, he wrote this poem, expressing his joy and exhilaration at the time. After passing Baidi City, the Qutang Gorge is ahead, and the real 'Three Gorges' journey begins here.
