Surprisingly, it was quieter in the late afternoon than in the early morning, and the colors and atmosphere were prettier in the afternoon, so I recommend visiting around 4 o'clock! 📍 5-6 Daereungwon Stone Wall Road The stone wall road near Michuwangneung is also a cherry blossom spot that you can't miss. I recommend taking pictures in the early morning if possible. According to legend, in the 15th year of King Beopheung of Silla, King Beopheung built it according to his mother's wishes in order to pray for peace and prosperity for the country and the people. This Buddhist temple was built by Kim Dae-sung during the Silla period. It was destroyed during the Japanese invasion and World War II and then rebuilt. It is one of Korea's important cultural heritages. Yangdong Village is the largest collective surname village in South Korea that has completely preserved the traditional culture and natural environment of the Joseon Dynasty. It is composed of the Wolseong Sun clan and the Yeogang Yi clan. The village houses many national treasures, treasures, folk materials and other cultural relics and historical sites, and the entire village has been designated as a national folk cultural heritage. Gyeongju Gyochon is a Hanok Village built by the city of Gyeongju. It is open to visitors to visit the living place of the Choi family in the past and is an educational and experiential attraction. Restaurants, cafes, photo studios and shops converted from traditional Korean houses are popular among young people. Donggung Palace and Wolji are the remains of the annex palace of the Silla royal palace. Formerly known as Anapji, it is an artificial pond in Gyeongju National Park in South Korea. In the past, it and other ancillary buildings served as the Eastern Palace where the crown prince lived, and banquets were held there when there were happy events in the country or to welcome distinguished guests.

#gyeongju Gyeongju was a nice weekend break, conveniently connected by the KTX train from Seoul. It only took 2 1/2 hours to arrive. There is plenty to see, and is prettier at night. My favourite was the Temple, Woljeong bridge and the Hanok themed cafes. It’s good for foodies too with plenty of Korean and western options. Overall, I would recommend it to those seeking a quiet break from a big city. Although, it can be quite busy is the tourist areas.

Getting There - KTX from Seoul to GyeongJu takes around 2hrs. When you reach GyeongJu station, there is a bus stop right outside that can take you to downtown. Attractions - Cheomseongdae observatory, Hwangnidan-gil, Gyochon Traditional Village, Woljeonggyo Bridge, - Bulwguksa Temple, Donggung palace and Wolji pond Hotels - Maison mini hotel. It’s right in centre of downtown GyeongJu and walkable distance to many of the main attractions. It’s also close to the bus terminal where you can catch a bus to Bulwguksa temple. Food & Restaurants - Relax with coffee and cake at Lee Jae Won’s bakery. Shopping - Go to Hwangnidan-gil for souvenirs and more.
