The scenic Wenshi Tianhou Temple
The Tin Hau Temple is located at the seaside at the foot of Wu Kau Tang Mountain (Nan Chung). It is in a very secluded location and only those who are driving or hiking will have the opportunity to pass by it. For transportation, you can take the green minibus from Fanling via Luk Keng. Although the entire temple is not large, the environment is quiet and peaceful, and it overlooks Yantian Port in the distance. There are also many believers who come here specifically to worship, and the incense is very popular. The Sea Dragon King Shop in the Tianhou Temple faces Yazhou Island, and it feels like being in a mural, with fresh sea breeze and various birds flying in the sky. However, I heard that there are a lot of wild boars looking for food near the beach, so friends who go there to visit should remember to be careful.

Wu Kau Tang Lai Chi Wo Hiking Slow Living
The route's starting point, Wu Kau Tang, is a rather remote village in Tai Po, with inconvenient transportation. However, on holidays, in addition to minibuses, you can also take the 275R bus from Tai Po Railway Station to Wu Kau Tang, which runs every 15 to 20 minutes. Pay attention to the bus schedule, as there are many people waiting for the bus during holidays.
Walking along the "Miao San Ancient Trail", you will pass through abandoned villages. You can find many different varieties of bamboo forests in the Shangmiaotian area, and the poetic bamboo trails are very suitable for taking some ancient and beautiful photos.
It is recommended to start early in the morning and walk slowly. There will be a supply location where you can eat tofu pudding.

Another great place to play cards with red leaves
Another place to see the red leaves, in addition to Tai Tong, #Tai Po U Kau Teng Village nearby, we take advantage of the children's school morning flash, so have not had the opportunity to hike and countryside, just to look at the environment, check cards, drive a small number of parking spaces, only four so many, or can take a minibus in Tai Po.
We arrived before 10 am on weekdays, some hikers were taking pictures, half an hour later there were three tour groups arriving, crowded, so it depends on your luck, but this place stay 15 minutes to take pictures is enough, then you can walk to other places.

View the panoramic view of Plover Bay Freshwater Reservoir from the top of the mountain|Wu Kau Tang
Wujiaotang has always been a popular hiking spot in autumn because of the many shades of trees. The warm sunshine seeps through the leaves and brings warmth. After turning, I climbed to the top of Mast Ridge. I unexpectedly found a viewing platform where I could enjoy the beautiful scenery of Plover Cove Freshwater Reservoir. There is also a traditional mountain fire lookout next to it, which is very unique.
Plover Cove Freshwater Reservoir is the world's first reservoir built in the sea🌊and the second largest reservoir in Hong Kong. Surrounded by the surrounding mountains, it forms a unique beauty, with lush greenery and a calm lake🏝. If you have the chance, you should go and experience its greatness in person.

After getting down to Welfare Store, eat something more, then walk back to U Kau Teng on the BB-level lower road. For easy version, please see here (~2hrs):

Wu Kau Tang|A Hidden Hiking Gem in Hong Kong
Wu Kau Tang, located in the northeastern New Territories of Hong Kong near Plover Cove Country Park, is a paradise for hiking enthusiasts. This lowland jungle boasts rich biodiversity, including 164 species of trees, over 30 species of dragonflies, and more than 50 species of butterflies, making it perfect for nature exploration. Serving as the starting point for several hiking trails, such as the Wu Kau Tang Country Trail and the Plover Cove Reservoir Country Trail, a day trip here offers a blend of forest and coastal scenery.
Morning: Hike to Tiu Tang Lung Start your journey at Wu Kau Tang and follow a moderate trail through Kau Tam Tso to enjoy autumn foliage, then ascend Tiu Tang Lung (416 meters) for breathtaking views of the Yan Chau Tong coastline. The route takes about 3-4 hours, so bring enough water and gear, and be prepared for the challenging southern ridge section.
Midday: Hakka Cuisine After descending, head to Sam A Tsuen to savor Hakka specialties like salt-baked chicken or braised pork with preserved vegetables to recharge. The tranquil village is also a great spot for a short rest.
Afternoon: Ecology and Culture Visit Wu Kau Tang Village (including Sun Uk Village and Lo Wai) to experience Hakka history and culture. Alternatively, take a leisurely stroll along the Miu Sam Ancient Trail to enjoy pastoral landscapes and end your trip on a relaxing note.
Transportation Tips Take minibus 20R or KMB bus 275R (weekend service) from Tai Po Market Station to Wu Kau Tang terminus, which takes about 30 minutes. Start early to avoid the midday heat and wear comfortable hiking shoes.

Women and Children Hiking Group Hong Kong Countryside Tour
Wu Kau Tang is located in the North District in the northeastern New Territories of Hong Kong. It is home to 164 species of trees, more than 30 species of dragonflies and more than 50 species of butterflies, as well as a variety of large invertebrates.
Lai Chi Wo is an indigenous village in Sha Tau Kok, North District, New Territories, Hong Kong. It is the location of the "Lai Chi Wo Nature Trail" of the Hong Kong UNESCO World Geopark.
The whole route is a loop, about 10 kilometers. Take the kids to play and have fun, and hike half the distance.
The countryside in Hong Kong is quiet, but on weekends there are often people hiking, which brings some brief liveliness to the place. Domestic cows were leisurely eating flowers and grass in the fields.
The outdoors in Hong Kong is worth a visit, with fresh air, quiet and peace.

The autumn air is crisp, and it's hiking season! This time the route is U Hang Teng -> San Ya Village -> Lai Chi Wo -> take the boat back to Ma Yau Wai ⛴~
Since the distance is not too short (children's pace + a long break in the middle and playing in the water, about three hours), so bring plenty of water before setting off!
Gogogo 👣
📍 Take the 275R bus from Tai Po Railway Station to U Kia Teng, which takes about time. After reaching U Kau Teng, you will see a sign heading towards Miao Tin and Sam Muk Chung. There are mountains and water along the way, and there are shade trees in many places, making it very comfortable to walk.
When you go to San Mu, you will see the redstone landscape viewing area, which is quite special landscape. There are also some creeks near Sam Muk Village, you can play in the water☺️
Then continue to walk towards Litchi Nest, will pass through the mangrove forest, you can walk the wooden canyon up close to the ecological environment of the mangrove forest, some characteristic plants will also be introduced.
Lai Chi Wo is a quite characteristic village, and there is a story hall to introduce its history and cultural background 👍🏻
After walking, you can recharge your batteries. There is a store in Lai Chi Wo. Eat a noodle to replenish your energy!
After dinner, if your physical strength permits, you can walk back to U Kau Teng; if you are tired, you can take a boat. Every Saturday and Sunday at 3:30 pm, there is a boat from U Kau Teng to Ma Yau Wai.
Are there any programs this coming weekend? Let's go for a walk!
