Actually, the bus ride to the destination - Quanzhou Confucian Temple only took about 35 minutes. Though there were many stops, the driver sped through smoothly on clear roads [Yeah][Congratulate]. Stayed at Lisu Quanzhou (Kaiyuan Temple West Street Branch) with its main entrance on Zhongshan Middle Road and back gate right by the Confucian Temple. Just around the corner was Citong Bieyuan·Confucian Temple (Licheng Branch) for local delicacies, though a bit pricey! Visited Quanzhou Kaiyuan Temple, Guan Yue Temple, Quanzhou Tianhou Palace, Qingjing Temple, and Chengtian Temple all in one day. Walking to so many places was exhausting, but thanks to Quanzhou's "Xiaobai" electric carts - absolutely must give them a thumbs up 👍 Hail-and-ride service within the old city at just 2 yuan per ride, super convenient!! Next day took a taxi to Qingyuan Mountain Scenic Area (70 yuan ticket). The driver suggested entering before 8 am for free access to the summit, or before 7 am at the main gate. I've been to Wudian City Traditional Block in Jinjiang twice before, and this time I wanted to show my companions the unique combination of overseas Chinese culture, traditional residential architecture, and folk customs. Twelve kilometers away from Wudian City, there is another ancient residential area, Wulin, which is similar to Wudian City and is also a traditional residential village influenced by overseas Chinese culture. The traditional swallowtail ridges of red brick houses are characteristic of traditional Minnan residential buildings. Since modern times, these coastal areas have gradually become hometowns for overseas Chinese. Influenced by Nanyang culture, many buildings have various European styles, known as "Fan Zai Lou" (foreigner's buildings). There is a two-story Western-style building in the village, also built by an overseas Chinese returning home, which is now used as an exhibition hall for Qiaopi (overseas Chinese letters). In the early days, it was very inconvenient for overseas Chinese to contact their families and send money back home, so specialized agencies gradually emerged to carry letters and remittances for them, similar to a combination of today's post office and underground banks. Qiaopi culture is very popular in the overseas Chinese hometowns of Fujian and Guangdong, and it also carries emotions and history. One of the purposes of this trip to Chaoshan was to visit the Qiaopi Museum in Shantou, but I didn't expect to see it here. I was very satisfied with my weekend experience revisiting Quanzhou, a city often described as "half city of fireworks, half city of immortals." This trip allowed me to delve deeper into Quanzhou's rich history, culture, and unique cuisine. First of all, Quanzhou's ancient architecture is well-preserved, and every corner is steeped in history, making me feel as if I had traveled back in time. Secondly, Quanzhou's food scene is a major highlight. From traditional Minnan snacks to seafood feasts, every meal was a memorable experience.
