Taichung Cherry Blossom Guide: Encountering a Sea of Pink Flowers
Spring in Taichung brings the blooming of cherry blossoms. Here are some must-visit spots for cherry blossom viewing:
• Wuling Farm: Located at No. 3-1, Wuling Road, Pingdeng Village, Heping District, Taichung City, this treasure trove for cherry blossom viewing sits at an altitude of 1,800 meters in the mountains. With over 20,000 cherry trees, including light pink Prunus campanulata, the farm offers ten unique cherry blossom viewing spots. Highlights include the Cherry Maple Forest Area, where red maple and cherry blossoms intertwine, and the Taoyuan Cherry Blossom Terrace, which provides a panoramic view of the flower sea. The blooming period is from February 8 to February 23. Visitors can take the Taiwan Railways to Yilan Station or Luodong Station and transfer to Kuo-Kuang Motor Transport to reach the farm.
• Dajia Wenchang Elementary School: Situated at the intersection of Section 4, Tianjin Road, and Changping Road in Beitun District, Taichung, the school features a pathway lined with nearly 30 cherry trees outside its premises. Varieties include mountain cherry and Fuji cherry, with the blooming period from mid-February to early March.
• Taian Police Station: Known as the "most beautiful police station," it is located at No. 1, Anmei Road, Houli District, Taichung City. Nearly a hundred double cherry trees bloom along the surrounding roads during the flowering season, which occurs around mid to late February.
