Basic Events On December 12, 1936, Zhang Xueliang and Yang Hucheng launched a military coup in Xi'an, China, forcing Chiang Kai-shek to resist Japan. This museum is a memorial built on the basis of this fundamental event. It is a 3A-level scenic spot. III. Basic Information 1. The Xi'an Incident Memorial Hall was rebuilt based on the important sites of the "Xi'an Incident", namely Zhang Xueliang's Mansion and Yang Hucheng's Zhiyuan Villa. It is a site museum. From the Northeast warlord to the anti-Japanese general, and then to the late years of house arrest for many years, his experience witnessed the modern history of China. After the September 18th Incident, in the face of the aggression of Japanese imperialism, he insisted on resisting Japan, showing a strong sense of national justice and patriotism. Especially in the Xi'an Incident, General Zhang Xueliang and General Yang Hucheng jointly launched a military remonstrance, detained Chiang Kai-shek, and forced him to stop the civil war and resist Japan. This incident became a turning point for the cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party to resist Japan, and it had a profound impact on modern Chinese history.
