[2025 Taipei Attraction] Travel Guide for Xiang Mountain (Updated Jun)

Today is my last day in Taipei! It felt like I was blessed with divine assistance, as I managed to visit all the important spots without missing a single one. Perhaps because I was traveling alone and didn't spend much time taking photos, my efficiency was super high. 🗺️Itinerary Starting from the Rainbow Taipei photo spot at Exit 6 of Ximending, I then went to Longshan Temple, followed by a visit to Xiao Wang Stewed Melon, which is very close to Longshan Temple. Next, I headed to Dihua Street, had lunch at Take Village Izakaya, went to Elephant Mountain in the afternoon, visited Taipei 101 in the evening, and ended my day at the Feminist Bookstore. ⚠️Notes Longshan Temple has a prayer guide, so don't worry if you haven't done your homework beforehand. Besides Take Village Izakaya and Elephant Mountain being great spots for photos with Taipei 101, the Taipei City Government location is actually better! (But I was lazy, and I already had a lot of content to post today, so I didn't go in the evening). The view from the top of Taipei 101 is similar to Hong Kong's Sky 100, so I didn't spend money on the observation deck. The Feminist Bookstore is a bookstore focused on feminism, so those interested can check it out. 💬Travel Thoughts I walked the entire way from Ximending to Dihua Street. Since I spent most of yesterday on transportation and didn't get a chance to walk around and explore, I missed out on many great little eateries. So today, I forced myself to take less public transport🚌. Strolling through the streets in the morning and hiking up Elephant Mountain in the afternoon in 30-degree heat, I can't remember the last time I pushed myself so hard, sweating profusely. 🍽️Food Experience The advantage of walking is that you can easily find small shops you want to eat and drink at. I tried Hong Rui Zhen sandwiches, Louisa Matcha Latte, 50 Lan Four Seasons Spring Tea, Xiao Wang Stewed Melon Pork Rice, and Fishbone Egg Cake. I basically ate everything I wanted in Taipei, and I couldn't fit any more food in my stomach. I hope to find even more delicious food at my next stop🙏.

Elephant Mountain is full of elephant statues. I was invited by a friend and followed without much thought, but it turned out to be quite a climb... Just when I thought we must be nearing the summit, the endless stairs proved otherwise... We took different paths for the ascent and descent. Next time, I wonder if I can go to see the night view. Climbing up Elephant Mountain, it was as if I had entered a dreamlike painting. Taipei 101 was like a column of green smoke, surrounded by high-rise buildings and the star-studded city scenery took my breath away. 😍 As the sun sets, I take a leisurely stroll on the hiking trail. The stone steps under your feet seem to be covered with green carpet leading to the sky. The breeze brings the warmth of the sun, making people feel relaxed and happy. The nature here blends with the prosperity of the modern city, making me feel an indescribable tranquility and beauty. 🌳 After reaching the top of Xiangshan Mountain, I found a great photo spot. As the sun sets, the city's neon lights gradually light up. I press the shutter to capture this moment, as if capturing the pulse of time. Taipei has become so charming in my eyes. 📸 Walking along the mountaintop trail, I met a local resident who told me that Xiangshan has a rich history and cultural heritage. This mountainous area, once a defensive fortress for Taipei City, has now become an ideal place for people to walk and exercise. His words gave me a deeper understanding of the importance of this mountain. 🏞️ As night fell, I chose to take a rest in the pavilion on the top of the mountain. The night view of the city in the distance is like a bright starry sky, lighting up the entire night sky. Here, I felt the pulse of Taipei and saw another side of the city, full of life and vigor. 🌃 Looking back on this trip to Xiangshan, I was deeply moved by the tranquility of this mountainous area and the prosperity of Taipei City. Xiangshan Park, formerly known as Zhongqiang Park, is located in the Xinyi Planning Area, Lane 150, Section 5, Xinyi Road, Xinyi District, Taipei City, Taiwan. It is built along the foot of Xiangshan Mountain. It is a long strip-shaped park that contains basketball courts and skating. There are many facilities such as playground, pavilion, combined play equipment and healthy trails.

Xiangshan Park is located at the foot of the mountain where you can see the best night view of Taipei 101 fireworks. It is home to the protected animal "Taipei tree frog", so the park is specially designed with tree frog as the main theme, integrating the characteristics into the children's playground. I got up early this morning and went to Xiangshan to climb the mountain. After climbing, I arrived at the entrance of Xiangshan Mountain. A new Japanese Kyoto coffee % ARABICA has opened. It is the first branch in Taiwan. I ordered a large cup of hot Kyoto latte ☕️. The latte art is really beautiful and the flavor is great ✌🏻. In the end, I also took 500g of coffee beans specially recommended by the staff. Elephant Mountain Trail is located in Xinyi District, Taipei City. You can find the directions from Exit 2 of Xiangshan MRT Station. It takes about 10 minutes to walk from Xiangshan MRT Station to the mountain trail entrance. Elephant Mountain is 183 meters above sea level and the trail is 1,450 meters long! But the distance to the observation deck is not that long, only about 1 kilometer! The round trip time is probably between 30 and 40 minutes! Let me tell you all here that Xiangshan is not recommended for the elderly! Mainly because the entire route is almost entirely steep stairs!  It must be inconvenient for the elderly to go up and down! There are almost stairs all the way from the beginning to the observation deck, so you will start to feel tired after climbing for a while. But the good thing is that there are some chairs in the middle for you to rest! Xiangshan or Elephant Mountain is located in Taiwan and very famous for its Night of City. It can be reached by Subway and walkable from metro status. Mountain hiking point is clearly marked from the Subway station. One you reach at the hiking point it takes 1-1.5 hrs to reach the top. From Top you can get of beautiful Taipei City with Taipei 101. In night view looks more beautiful with lights on. There are various view point on XiangShan. People usually go there in 4-5 pm so that they can get both day and Night view. Taipei is one of my favourite cities in Asia and this viewpoint is the best way to see this incredible metropolis. It’s a small hike up elephant mountain with various lookouts along the way, to get incredible views of the city and its iconic landmark - Taipei 101. The climb can be quite steep and it does get quite busy and also very hot during summer! I aim for about 8:30 am as it’s nice and cool, not so busy and the weather is calm. Follow the signs for the peak (it’s the shortest journey) there are longer hikes around the base and the rear of the mountain. When you get half way there’s a raised viewing area for great views of downtown, when you get higher and pass the famous elephant rocks you can get 360 views of the whole city. Totally worth going all the way up! I try and aim for a 10am finish as there’s an amazing arabica coffee shop at the base that opens at 10am. There are also public toilets located at the base across the road from the coffee shop. It’s a known landmark so easy to get to by foot / taxi / bus. Or if you want to take the metro get off at Xianghan and follow the signs ( the last stop on the red line / after Taipei 101) It’s also incredible at night but very busy! especially around sunset. It felt like I was walking through the city and suddenly entered a mountain path. The road to Xiangshan was short but steep enough to take my breath away, and as I climbed one step, two steps, the noise of the city became quieter, and the sound of the wind and birds chirping came into my ears. When I cooled off and climbed up to the observation deck, the view of the city with Taipei 101 towering over me unfolded before my eyes, and at that moment, I forgot all about the difficult steps. The city seen from a high place felt unfamiliar but familiar at the same time, and I felt like I was part of it. The return trip was much easier than the climb. The uphill climb that took my breath away now remained a good memory, and the city lights under my feet felt like a quiet ending to the day. #HawaiiFlightEvent
