Fewer Tourists! A Hidden Gem Recommended by National Geographic
Although Wuzhou is located in Guangxi, it is the cradle of Lingnan culture. During the Ming Dynasty, the Office of the Governor-General of Guangdong and Guangxi was located here. Walking through the streets and alleys of Wuzhou, you will see retro mottled arcade buildings and hear Cantonese, as if you have returned to old Guangzhou. The atmosphere is amazing!
Even during the National Day holiday, this small city is not crowded and exudes a leisurely and relaxed atmosphere. It not only has a profound historical background and a nostalgic old town, but also has super down-to-earth and cost-effective street food, making it an excellent destination for a one-day city walk!
💡Travel Guide
Wuzhou's attractions are relatively concentrated and can be roughly divided into two major areas, Hedong and Hexi, with the Guijiang River as the boundary. Hedong is mainly the old town of Qilou Street, while Hexi is centered on Hebin Park. If you don't go to popular attractions such as the Dragon Mother Temple and Baiyun Mountain, you can easily check out the essence of Wuzhou in a day!
1️⃣Hexi Route: Starting from Hebin Park, follow the path to the Wuzhou Museum, then visit the Former Site of the British Consulate, and then go to Hegang Tower and Baihe Temple to enjoy the blend of history and nature.
2️⃣Hedong Route: Start your journey from the Diwei Courtyard, check in at the Former Site of Wuzhou Post Office and the Former Site of Datong Hotel, stroll through Arcade City, wander through the alleys of Weixinli, then step onto Guibei Road and Dongzheng Road, and finally arrive at the Zhongshan Memorial Hall.
📷Must-Visit Attractions
✅Diwei Courtyard: Worth a visit as soon as you get off the high-speed train! The former site of the Wuzhou Customs, built in 1918, is hidden here. Several light yellow European-style buildings are scattered in the residential area, with interlaced light and shadows. Every frame is breathtakingly beautiful.
✅Arcade City: It has the largest arcade building complex in the country, with 22 original arcade streets stretching endlessly, and 560 arcade buildings with classic Chinese and foreign designs standing on both sides. Although some areas are under renovation, you can encounter many well-preserved old arcade buildings by walking along Guibei Road. Rent an electric scooter and shuttle around at will. If you encounter your favorite snacks, stop and enjoy them.
✅Zhongshan Memorial Hall: Unexpectedly, China's first Zhongshan Memorial Hall was not in Guangzhou, but in Wuzhou. Its style is very different from that of Guangzhou, and it has more of a Western church flavor, solemn and elegant.
✅Wuzhou Museum: This museum built on the mountain is unique. The mountain-climbing elevator is shaped like a European clock tower (unfortunately, it is temporarily damaged). However, it is also convenient to ride an electric scooter up the mountain. The museum is open for free and does not require reservations, allowing you to easily appreciate the historical changes of Wuzhou.
✅Weixinli: A paradise for modern architecture lovers, it brings together a large number of modern buildings with different styles, like a living architectural museum.
✅Former Site of the British Consulate: A Western building with great beauty. At 4 or 5 pm, the setting sun shines on the yellow walls behind the building, and the light and shadows change. Any shot is a blockbuster.
✅Baihe Temple: Located on the riverside, you can not only feel the strong Taoist cultural atmosphere, but also enjoy the magnificent view of the Yuanjiang Bridge.
💡Other Attractions
✅Baiyun Mountain: Friends who love mountain climbing should not miss it. After reaching the top, you can overlook the Wuzhou landmark Xijiang Pearl Tower and have a panoramic view of the city.
✅Dragon Mother Temple: Known as the "No. 1 Dragon Mother Temple in China", the ticket is CNY 28, which is worth exploring.
✅Liangguang Governor's Office: It is currently in the renovation stage. Although admission is free, the interior is basically equivalent to a park, lacking special displays, so it is not recommended to go.
🍚Wuzhou on the Tip of the Tongue
✅Morning Tea: Yuelongsha Restaurant, Pinsheng Prince Tea House, shrimp dumplings, rice noodle rolls, barbecued pork buns... every bite is authentic Cantonese flavor.
✅Main Meals: Yuebei Restaurant, Yueyou, Chuji, Deyi Food, and Huweiguan Field Snails. You must try paper-wrapped chicken and scallion oil fish to experience the unique culinary charm of Wuzhou.
✅Snacks: Xingxing Field Snails, Bingji Beef Flavor Noodle Shop, full of street atmosphere, making people unable to stop.
✅Desserts: Wufu Guiling Jelly, Zhangji Sour Fruit, Bingquan Soy Milk Shop, sweet taste adds a bright color to the journey.

🏨Accommodation Recommendations
It is recommended to choose a hotel near Wangcheng Plaza in Hexi. The hotel facilities here are relatively new, and it is very convenient to travel and shop, which can provide a comfortable guarantee for your Wuzhou trip.
