Relaxed Wandering in Takamatsu – Temples, Views & Architecture
#cityplaybook
Takamatsu, a coastal city in Kagawa Prefecture, offers a perfect blend of calm nature, thoughtful architecture, and impressive history. It’s one of those places where time seems to slow down just enough to let you breathe deeper.
I started my walk at Yashima Temple, a peaceful spot perched on the mountain with panoramic views and quiet trails. Then I visited the stunning Yashimāru, a modern cultural hub that blends into the natural landscape. The curved wooden structure is so beautiful, I found myself just standing and admiring it for a while.
As the sun started to set, I made my way to Setoshirube, a red lighthouse at the edge of the Seto Inland Sea. It’s especially magical in the evening light, watching the boats go by with the sea breeze on your face.
Why I recommend Takamatsu for a slow walk:
・The mix of traditional temples and contemporary architecture is inspiring
・You can enjoy sweeping sea views without the crowds
