Yokohama is a nearby city that can be reached in about an hour from Tokyo. Usually, people visit on a day trip, but I recommend staying for one or two nights and taking your time looking around. It was enough to make me want to explore more of this place. The first place I visited was #YokohamaChinatown, and I was amazed by its scale and the abundance of Chinese culture. While I was looking for a place to eat because I was hungry, I found a #Sichuan restaurant that I personally really like. It was #SichuanMapo (#四川麻婆)!! Not only does the name include Sichuan, but the word Mapo is also combined with the word Mapo from #MapoTofu (#麻婆豆腐), which is a representative Sichuan dish, so I went in with confidence. I went inside the restaurant and looked at the menu, and there was a Chinese-style set meal with Mapo Tofu as the main dish, shrimp dishes, and soup, so I ordered it right away. The basics were rice, a luxurious soup with scallions, and a shrimp dish with a sour seasoning based on ketchup, which was also good, and even the dessert was delicious... But above all, the Mapo Tofu, which had a much stronger spiciness than what I actually ate in Sichuan, was so appealing. Also, when I arrived in Yokohama after leaving Tokyo, it was time for lunch. Anyway, when I entered Chinatown, I could feel that it was not a street that was intentionally created, but that the Chinese who settled here actually lived there for a long time and were well-integrated with Japanese culture. It was because it had a Chinese feel overall, but if you look closely, there were Japanese elements mixed in detail. First of all, of all the Chinatowns I've been to, this one had the most visitors, the most restaurants and shops, and was the most active Chinatown. I also recommend taking it out and eating it at the nearby Yamashita Park. It may be difficult in the cold season, but the view of Yokohama's port is romantic and you can take wonderful photos. 🛥️A short walk from Yamashita Park is Cosmo World, a small amusement park with free admission. Here, you only need to pay the necessary amount for the attractions you want to ride, so you can go to the site and decide whether or not to ride the attractions depending on your mood that day. 🎡I recommend the Ferris wheel! The view from the window is very beautiful, and the great thing about it is that you can see Minato Mirai in 360 degrees. Shin-Yokohama Station is a major station and is always crowded. However, there are fewer people near the Red Brick Warehouse, and the streets are clean with few high-rise buildings. The Red Brick Warehouse is worth a visit, and the night view is beautiful. Inside, there are many small shops selling souvenirs, with many good options, but they close around 7 pm. The specialty Chinese congee is made by simmering dried oysters, dried scallops, and whole chicken in a stock for about four hours, and using the mellow and sweet French sun-dried salt "Selmaland-Guérande." There are more than 21 different ingredients, and take-out congee is available from 720 yen.

Some places will draw you in with tempting food photos, but the taste might not match the hype—cold dishes and underwhelming flavors can be a letdown. Unfortunately, the restaurant I tried didn’t have an English name, so I can’t recommend it specifically, but let’s just say it was hit-or-miss. What truly stole the show for me, though, were the adorable dogs! They added a delightful touch to the lively atmosphere, making the experience even more enjoyable. If you’re visiting, bring your appetite, your patience, and maybe a mental checklist of which spots to try.
