Upon arriving at the Takamatsu Port in Shikoku, you will notice two towering pillars by the harbor. These are the works of artist Shinji Ohmaki, titled 'Liminal Air -core-'. The two pillars, each eight meters tall, are said to represent the intertwining of a man and a woman, echoing the red and white ferries that travel to Megijima and Ogijima islands. 'Liminal Air -core-' features a white base with colorful spiral patterns and mirror decorations. The massive and towering pillars stand like guardians of the sea routes to the Seto Inland Sea islands. Nearby, you can also find 'Seed Ship' by Taiwanese artist Lin Shun-Long, both of which are part of the Setouchi Triennale. Takamatsu Port is a major hub, with the ferry terminal on the left and the high-speed boat terminal on the right. The second floor has a sky bridge connecting to Takamatsu Station, making it a must-visit spot for those heading to the Setouchi Triennale. While waiting for your boat, take some time to admire these unique pillars.

#1月好去地方2025 During our trip to Shikoku, we came to "Sanuki", the hometown of udon in Kagawa Prefecture. Of course, we had to pick a beautiful and popular store to try. Fortunately, we drove by ourselves, so we could easily reach this remote "Udon Honjin Yamada-ya". The restaurant has a large traditional Japanese garden. Walking through the door curtain, you will see an old wooden building, outdoor seats with red umbrellas, and carved old pines. The layout of the garden is elegant and grand, and it feels like you are a guest at a wealthy family's home. The noodles are homemade, chewy and have a light noodle aroma. The udon is very chewy and delicious whether it is in soup or dry. There is also crispy fried tempura, which is really enjoyable when paired with a cup of warm matcha. Tamamo Park, where the ruins of Takamatsu Castle are located, still has visible moats and remnants of walls, even though the castle itself is mostly in ruins. The historical atmosphere of the Edo period and the dry landscape garden design make it worth a visit. The moat of Takamatsu Castle is filled with seawater from the Seto Inland Sea, making it a true water castle standing above the sea. Although only the walls remain today, it is still quite majestic and impressive. You can take a boat ride around the moat to get a sense of its historical significance. The wooden Saya Bridge, vast pine forests, and Japanese gardens are highlights of Tamamo Park. There is also the Takamatsu Castle History Museum, which showcases the site's past in detail. If you're lucky, you might even catch the nighttime light show.

Ritsurin Garden in Takamatsu, Shikoku, is a famous Japanese garden built in 1625. It is a strolling garden that incorporates rich traditional Japanese gardening techniques, harmoniously blending natural landscapes, buildings, ponds, bridges, and other elements to create a beautiful spot that combines natural beauty with human ingenuity. Visiting during the cherry blossom season, the park is adorned with the romantic beauty of Yoshino cherry blossoms, which are white with a hint of pink. The picturesque scenery, with small bridges, flowing water, and garden landscapes as the backdrop, makes for stunning photos. The biggest attraction of cherry blossom viewing in Shikoku is the lack of crowds, allowing for unobstructed views! Ritsurin Garden covers a vast area and has five main attractions: Hiunkaku Pavilion, Goten, the Great Pond, Kisho, and artificial hills. You can also enjoy a boat ride on the lake, which is quite poetic. In 1994, it was listed as a World Cultural Heritage site, making it well worth a visit.

📍JR Clement Inn Takamatsu Today, I brought you a hotel that will be the best choice for those traveling to Takamatsu. It is a 5-minute walk from the last stop of the trains running around Takamatsu, a 3-minute walk from the airport limousine bus stop, and a short walk from the port for Naoshima Island. It opened in 2018, so it still feels like a new hotel overall. Small rooms are in the early 100,000 won range, and if you want a reasonably spacious ‘twin room’ room, it would be good to set it at around the mid-to-late 100,000 won range. A popular hot spring in Takamatsu! There were a fair number of people there because it was daytime, but the hot spring itself is not very large, so I felt a bit oppressive. I couldn't relax and couldn't relax. 📍Domin Inn Takamatsu Central Park Branch Domin Inn Hotel, isn't it the standard for budget hotels? A fairly compact room that I've seen for the first time in a while. It's definitely narrow. However, this hotel is not a hotel that you should look at just by looking at the rooms. The exquisite combination of dark wood base and gray tone. It's not a room with a sentimental feel. However, even though it's such a small room, it has everything you need, including a desk and chair. There's even a middle door in the room that can be separated from the bathroom!
