Because of the 'Record', the Yuejiang Tower was built!
Arriving at the Yuejiang Tower on the peak of Lion Mountain in Nanjing, beside the Yangtze River. Enter the park from the south gate of the scenic area, and follow the mountain path up the steps. It is midsummer, and Lion Mountain is covered with green trees, so it is not very hot. Passing through the stone archway and bronze relief of the 'First Tower in Jiangnan', the Yuejiang Tower appears in front of you. The tower is very tall, with four visible floors and three hidden floors, a total of seven floors, with green tiles and red pillars, and colorful doors, exuding a royal atmosphere; inside the Yuejiang Tower, it is antique, with exquisite paintings and calligraphy, a golden dragon chair, and delicate wind chimes...; taking the elevator to the top of the Yuejiang Tower, looking out, the great river flows eastward, the world-famous Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge spans the river like a lying dragon, and the tallest building, Zifeng Tower, is clearly visible... the beautiful scenery of Nanjing is in full view.
It is said that after Zhu Yuanzhang became emperor, he climbed Lion Mountain (Lulong Mountain), full of emotions, and wanted to build a towering pavilion on the mountain to look far and wide, detect treachery, and intimidate all directions. So he personally wrote the 'Record of Yuejiang Tower' and ordered all his ministers to write one as well. Among them, the one written by Grand Scholar Song Lian was the best and was passed down along with Zhu Yuanzhang's 'Record of Yuejiang Tower'.
In the 'Record of Yuejiang Tower', Zhu Yuanzhang explained the reasons, functions, and styles of building the tower. According to Zhu Yuanzhang's idea, construction began, but due to various factors, only the foundation was built before the project was halted. It was not until 2001 that the people of Nanjing rebuilt the Yuejiang Tower on the original foundation, and it was completed and opened to the public.
Yuejiang Tower is located at No. 202 Jianning Road, Gulou District, Nanjing, and is known as one of the four famous towers in Jiangnan. It is now a national 4A-level tourist attraction, with an entrance fee of 40 yuan.
Most people are moved by the scenery and remember the tower, that is, the scenery comes first, followed by poems, paintings, such as 'Record of Yueyang Tower', 'Preface to Tengwang Pavilion', 'Yellow Crane Tower', etc. However, Nanjing's Yuejiang Tower is famous because of the 'Record of Yuejiang Tower'. Because of the 'Record', the tower was built!
