Historic buildings
Yuhuang Pavilion in Wei County was first built in the 10th year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1377). It faces south and covers an area of 2022.30 square meters. It is divided into two courtyards, front and back, and is built on a central axis. The front courtyard consists of a memorial archway, dragon and tiger halls, and east and west meditation rooms. The bell and drum towers are located in the southeast and southwest corners of the backyard, and the main hall of Yuhuang Pavilion stands in the north. It has been repaired in all dynasties, and monuments have been erected. The existing Jade Emperor Pavilion faces south and has a total area of 2,000 square meters. It is divided into two courtyards, the upper and lower courtyards. The upper courtyard is reached by entering the small door through 18 stone steps. On both sides of the small door are the bell tower on the left and the drum tower on the right. The architectural style is double-eaved hip roof tile roof. The front of the upper courtyard is the main hall of the Jade Emperor Pavilion, which is five bays wide and three bays deep, with a triple-eaved hip roof glazed tile roof. The main ridge of the main hall is a glazed flower ridge, with large coiled dragons at both ends, and glazed eight immortals on the ridge. The side ridges are built with large running beasts, and the four corners are equipped with animal heads. Iron bells are hung below, and the breeze blows and dings, which is extraordinary. The wooden frame of the entire building is painted with oil, basically in the "Hexi" and "Su style" patterns. The main hall of Jade Emperor Pavilion looks like three stories from the outside, but it is actually two stories high. In the middle of the second floor, there is a protruding eaves, with a corridor around it. Visitors can look around along the corridor and see the winding Huliu River to the north, Cuiping Mountain surrounded by clouds to the south, picturesque mountains and rivers to the west, and sparse villages, mountains and rivers to the east.Inside the main hall of the Jade Emperor Pavilion, there is a statue of the Jade Emperor on the front (north side), and a large mural of characters, "The Conferred Gods", is painted on the wall. On the walls on both sides of the Jade Emperor statue are painted the Five Yuan Emperors. On the east and west walls are painted the "Thirty-six Thunder Gods". The emperor is majestic, the Thunder Gods are ferocious, the attendants have beautiful eyes, the scene is grand, the colors are gorgeous, and the characters are lifelike. There are eight stone tablets under the front corridor of the main hall, seven of which were rebuilt in the Ming and Qing dynasties. The number of times this pavilion has been rebuilt shows how much attention it has received and how valuable its historical relics are. Another one is the "Tianxianzi" poem tablet, which is a stone tablet of artistic value highly praised by later generations. In addition, the upper attic has a horizontal plaque with the words "Yuhuang Pavilion" inscribed by Zhang Su in 1983, and the lower attic has a horizontal plaque with the words "Jingbian Tower" inscribed by Ban Kaiming in 1983.
