Admire the sunset glow over the African land at dusk, and completely set free your spirit. The Zambezi River, also known as the Limpopo, is locally meant to signify 'a great river'. The Zambezi crosses or forms the borders of 6 countries or regions. It is the fourth largest river in Africa and the largest in Southern Africa. With a flow of 223 billion cubic meters, it is second only to the Congo River in Africa, making it the cradle of culture in this region. The Zambezi has numerous tributaries, a dense river network, 72 waterfalls, and many rapids and gorges along its course. The cruise area is located in the middle reaches of the Zambezi, at its widest point, where the river is as smooth as a mirror, 2 kilometers wide, and 5 kilometers from Victoria Falls. It also serves as the border river between Zimbabwe and Zambia. In my eyes, the wildness and grandeur of the 'Zambezi River' are unparalleled, very African in flavor, and very pristine in its natural state. It is only after listening to the guide that I learned this is one of the last refuges for African wildlife, and I captured the moments I liked with a telephoto lens. Various trees on both sides of the river are lush, with various birds soaring and swooping continuously, and rare birds can occasionally be caught among the reeds. Suddenly, a commotion: 'Hippopotamus!' At one moment, it's an adult hippo hiding its body under the water, revealing only its nostrils and eyes; at another, it's a baby hippo frolicking with an adult, bobbing in the river with blue waves, a sight both novel and stunning. At dusk, the water shimmers, and the river flows quietly. Despite being south of the equator in Africa, the March sun is not scorching, the breeze is gentle, and it's quite comfortable. The long river sunset gradually sets in the west, and the captain stops the boat near the river beach, which is the best spot for sunset viewing. Other boats, large and small, are also moored nearby. Everyone is quiet, breathing slowly, with only the sound of camera shutters clicking. The next day, we had breakfast at the resort. The breakfast variety was quite rich. Tomatoes, pumpkin, and barbecue were all delicious. As for the pastries, I felt they were too sweet and did not like them. When you come to Zambia, it is recommended that you eat more tomatoes, potatoes, onions and corn. After breakfast, we were waiting in the lobby at 7:30. The travel agency sent a car with a local guide to take us to the wildlife park near the resort. (We originally booked a 6:30 departure and came back for breakfast after the tour. Later, we found that booking a 7:30 departure was a wise move) The wind was particularly cold in the morning and the car was ventilated on all sides, so I had to wear a thin jacket. It took about ten minutes to get there. After entering the park, the car drove very slowly. We stretched our necks and looked around, afraid of missing anything. (This is also the reason why the travel agency suggested that we set out at 6:30, for fear that if it was too late, the animals would hide.) Fortunately, we were lucky, and soon we saw herds of deer, zebras, and monkeys one after another. Every time we saw an animal, the local black driver and tour guide explained it to us in English. The car drove slowly along the designated route. Haha, we even saw three 🦒 and a warthog. The park is very large, but very clean, without any garbage. After two hours of leisurely touring, the tour guide drove the car to the Zambezi River, rested for a while, and went to the bathroom. Although the bathroom was simple, it was very clean. We were taking pictures by the Zambezi River, and the tour guide gave us drinks, including Coke, Sprite, orange juice and mineral water, all of which were iced. Then we set off and walked around for another hour, then we were taken to another park. When we arrived at the destination, we needed to get off the bus, and the park staff took us one after another to see the rhinos up close. They all carried their own. When we arrived at the rhino resting place, the staff in front motioned for us not to speak, and pointed to a few rhinos resting under the shade of a tree not far away. We were so scared that we dared not breathe, and quickly took a few photos and left. The driver took us back to the resort at about half past ten and we gave him a tip. The morning trip is over.
