A Stroll Through a Century-Old Temple | Exploring the History and Zen Beauty of Zhaiming Temple
The ancient path of Zhaiming Temple in Daxi, Taoyuan is a century-old monument with a quaint architectural style. Initially designed in the traditional three-section compound form, the temple greets visitors with a statue of Guanyin and a small lotus pond at the entrance. The three-section compound design, complemented by lush greenery at the entrance and within the temple, creates a serene environment.
A major highlight is the exposed concrete structure at the back, where the minimalist modern design contrasts beautifully with the ancient temple. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, it is currently closed to the public, and visitors can only admire its unique architectural beauty from outside the walls.
The ancient path beside Zhaiming Temple is shaded by trees all year round, making it quite humid. Moss covers the stone steps, which become slippery, especially after rain. Although the slopes are not strenuous, one could easily slip, so it is advisable to wear non-slip shoes for safety, especially after rain.
This is a hidden gem where one can calm the mind and relax the body. If you are looking for a place to slow down and experience tranquility, Zhaiming Temple is definitely worth a visit.
